I loved the course, but I am rating my overall experience as a 2 due to the service. I will not go into the details, but when we arrived, the gentleman in the pro shop was very patronizing and not at all accommodating. Both my daughter and I were offended by the way he was talking down to us. In addition, I wanted to buy a long sleeved golf shirt but they have next to nothing for women, while having a very large selection for men. We rented a driver for my petite daughter who was in from out of town, only to find after a few holes when she wasnt hitting her usual 220 yard drives, that we had been given a mans club. When we finished and got back to the pro shop I complained about paying to rent a driver and being given one that was clearly unsuitable, and he made no apologies and just said "do you want a womens club now?" Since he saw me returning the cart, I know he knew we were done. Instead of being a smart ass, he should have given me a refund. In addition, on one of the holes someone was on the green spraying water on it and he would not move so we could hit the ball. I yelled four several times. I finally walked over to some of the other workers and asked them the protocol on this course and why he was standing on the green while we were trying to hit, and I was told he was not supposed to do that and one of them had to go over there and get him to move. He stepped off the green a few feet and stood there waiting on us and made us uncomfortable. I cant believe any of this behavior that we experienced would have occurred if we were men. I will not be back because of it. I am an attorney and a good golfer and I will not go somewhere where women are treated disrespectfully. By the way, this is the first review I have written for anything.

FAR TOO DIFFICULT FOR THE AVERAGE GOLFER. Just played both Black Horse and Bayonet back-to-back for $55 each, and wont go back to either course. Although the layouts are nice, views are terrific, etc. the severity of the mulit-sloped greens coupled with super speeds made both courses near unplayable. Black Horse is by far the tougher of the two due to the green complexes. Our group had two 6 handicaps, an 8 and a 10 and we couldnt stop a ball on these concrete greens even with wedges and short irons. More like miniature golf scrambling from the greenside rough on every single hole. Prepare to be brutalized.

Never crowded with decent food beer on tap and a full bar you cant beat this secluded golf course on former Fort Ord. Great lunch options small menu but delicious food and huge portions. Food is standard Golf Course Pub like fare with Burgers, sandwiches, and fries, and they also serve breakfast. I have never tried the breakfast but go there often for lunch and have been to their holiday brunch meals. The lunch is good but not the best Ive ever had however the price and the quiet atmosphere is well worth it all. Beautiful views of the Monterey Bay outdoor seating.

Played Bayonet July 5, 2015. A great disappointment. I am an US Army Veteran. When asked if the military get a break the lady at the counter curtly answered only if you live in a 50 mile radius. Never saw a Range; pace was very, very slow. I actually served with the Blackhorse (11th Cav) in Vietnam. No matter. Course is close to a goat ranch. Cost was $245 for two people. The only bright spot was the starter. Go somewhere else to play. Poppy Hills is a better investment or even Pacific Grove if you want an unique muny experience.

Green Fees Mon-Fri Sat,Sun & Holidays 7am-12pm 7am-1pm $100 7am-12pm $138 1pm-3pm $82 12pm-1pm $120 3pm-close $62 1pm-3pm $92 3pm-close $72 Offers military rates. This golf course offers a combo play now as Bayonet(back9) and BlackHorse(front 9) are under renovation. For driving range, you can tee off from the ground (no mats...). $10 for a bag of balls. A good place to play

Both Bayonet and Blackhorse are great courses. The views of the Monterey Bay only add to the experience. Bayonet is the tougher of the two ( narrow fairways & much longer) Blackhorse has some fun holes but the layout is not quite as memorable as Bayonet. Course conditions have always been great. Fast greens will dispose of bad shots quickly. Bring your A-game to these courses. One of my favorite places to play!

We played several courses in Monterrey Peninsula and is convinced that Black Horse is one of the best golf outing for the money. Course condition, people and even the golf carts are 5 star category. We rank the course over Pebble, Spanish Bay, Poppy Hill (before closing down for upgrade) and Del Monte.

Never played here, not much of a golfer. However, I have eaten here, and in my personal opinion I have never in my life had such an amazing burger. Food on the rest of the menu is pretty good, but getting any of the burgers here will set you up for success. My favorite burger place in the world.

Great course, beautiful views, fairly priced, polite staff. I liked the elevation on the course, its mild. Not too challenging but not flat. Ive only played it once and Im looking forward to my next vist. Ill eat breakfast before I arrive next time, not to my liking but no big deal.

Price to View ratio is hard to beat! Had a beautiful reception for my uncles burial. The staff were courteous and kind and the event room had a gorgeous view of the golf course and coastline of Seaside. I bought 4 MacCallen 12 year whiskeys with 4 beers and the bill was only $50!

Played Bayonet course in the afternoon. Very good conditions. Mature trees lining most holes, very pretty. Looks like some housing development is starting up in some areas which is shame as this course currently has no houses around (always a fan of that).

There are two courses here and both are well done and have their challenges. The clubhouse is small because it used to be military and then opened to the public. Definitely a must and there is also a huge disc golf tourney held here once a year.

This is so far my favorite golf course. It is the toughest course I have played. Every hole has drastic elevation changes from the tee box to the green. The greens are fast and not a one is flat. Very challenging course.
