I swore I wouldnt work in a venue when I moved here because I didnt want to loose the magic and love I have for sfs music scene... f8 has always been a favorite, so when they asked me if to lend a hand, of course I made the exception. Glad I did because I get to work with some of the most amazing insightful musicians and booking agents in the game, and I feel like I can make a real difference in making the dance community safe and accessible, the way it should b for everyone. I feel very blessed to devote myself to this place. Forever a proud patron first, from icon to f8, this place is my cozy little home of low light and big big sound.

Bunch of hood rats and thugs frequent the tiny little place. Security was very misogynistic. It was pointless getting on the guest list. There was a guest list line...What was the point? You had to pay at the door anyways. How the hell is security running the line? Ugh, it was such a big disappointment! The website advertised old school hip hop. I was expecting Jeru the Damaja, Mary J Blige, Biz Markie, Snoop Dog, De La Soul, Tribe Called Quest, Wu Tang Clan...instead I hear some pop crap...Rihanna (not that shes bad, shes not even old school). Does the DJ know what real old school is? DO NOT GO HERE if you want upscale hip hop.

I have been coming to f8, and specifically to Stamina Sundays for the free drum n bass every Sunday, for years. But I have had yet to try the cocktails, even after so many years. Im not usually a fan of cocktails and oft stick to beer, BUT LET ME TELL YOU! - the Rum Punch is superrrr tasty! Demitria whipped me one up with the quickness and it was gone in half the time*. The bar staff here is lovely, the atmosphere is inviting and situationally-perfect, and I now know, the drinks are fantastic. BOH BOH BOH *bonus points if you get the dnb/half-time reference.

I only visit F8 for their Housepitality weekly music event on Wednesdays. The atmosphere is "divey" and the people who attend this event are pretty down to earth. Decent sized bar with plenty of room to order drinks. Sound system is perfect for the size for the venue. They also bring in a lot of world class talent. Deep, funky, tech, acid. Their back room gets crowded because of the size, but to each his own. They do have a cover charge, but if you RSVP on the site, it usually is free or discounted. Come dance your shoes off!

Spent two consecutive nights partying at this venue and I would definitely come back again the next SF trip. This place is ran like a dive bar, with a side catering to DJ shows. Not to mention they have very reasonable prices for drinks! If you sneak up to the back side of the venue, they even have a private artist lounge area thats open on certain occasions. Great place when supporting a friend thats DJin or just a group of friends that are looking for a club night without the actual club experience.

Genesis Swift

Definitely one of the great clubs in San Francisco. This place is HUGE - thats always a plus. The bartenders and bouncers are NOT friendly at all. And the restrooms are quite small. Apart from that, the DJ was playing awesome music, lots of people on the dance floor, and the performers were good too. They have a 20$ cover charge.

Stamina! on Sunday nights! SF DnB...worth the hour drive for sure. Its not like the 90s when we had Compound though. They trying/doing better than anyone else in the area. I just wish we had DnB here in San Jose though. Bar is legit...if you get hot go in the room in back on the left side of the club to chill out.

I was there on an off-weekend on Valentines Day. I know that usually Valentines Day is supposed to be an example of an on-weekend, but in San Francisco, any time there is a holiday, all people who are from out of town, leave town. This place was fun and had a good ratio of men to women. Id recommend it.

i would definitely check this place out on wednesday nights. from 9-10pm there is usually free champagne and then housepitality night from 10pm-2am with 2 rooms of house music all night. the back room is a little warmer but funkier music. the crowd is friendly and dancing constantly. ;)
