I am a Senior citizen living on disability, and I was very excited when I read the Fox and Goose sign for St. Patricks Day advertising a sliding scale charge at the door. For the first time in a long time I was going to be able to go to a pub on Saint Patricks Day, have some Corned Beef and Cabbage and a Guinness, and listen to some Irish music. I gathered up the last of my money for the month, hopped on my bike, and rode to Fox and Goose. When I arrived at the door, I was told that the sliding scale had to do with early arrival, not income as it does in most establishments that advertise such, something not included on the sign about the night. I explained that I had just enough money left in my pocket, in fact for the month, for the lower door charge, a meal and a Guinness. I told both the girl at the door and the manager that I was living on disability only and if I had to pay the higher price, I could not afford to eat and drink. They coldly said it did not matter and turned me away. I am home alone now, sad. I know enough about Ireland and my Irish ancestors to know that one of the central values of Irish culture (and Celtic culture from ancient times) is the sacredness of hospitality. When my Irish family during the Depression had little food and someone showed up at their door hungry, they added some water to the soup and invited the person to share their meal. I know as surely as I know that Saint Brigid loves the sacred isle that your Irish ancestors are deeply ashamed of Fox and Goose tonight. You have done something that is an affront to everything that the Irish people stand for, and always have. I have been to Fox and Goose many times in the past decades. I dont know that I will be there ever again. I am reminded of a famous Irish proverb: "May those who love us love us well, and for those who do not love us, may God turn their hearts. And if he cannot turn their hearts, may he turn their ankles so we will know them by their limping." Tonight, in every sense that matters, Fox and Goose is limping.

We came for brunch and ate outside on the patio with our two dogs, very dog friendly, brought water bowl and treats! Waiter was very nice I got the Californian omelet and it was very good but was honestly so stuffed with chicken cubes that it was a bit much. Less of an omelet more of a circular egg wrapped around a pound of toppings, maybe some people like that but much too large a serving for me. Can substitute a scone for $1 more, (Olallieberry flavor is like blackberry) highly recommend getting with a side of Devonshire cream, which can be shared. Also got the Cafe Mocha, yummm like hot chocolate. My brother-in-law got the Bangers and Mash, said the sausage was just okay and the peas and carrots tasted canned. French toast was delicious made with cinnamon raisin bread, and a steal at $6.75!

Went their today 05/30/2015. I enjoyed Their custom to order three egg omelets are served with English country red potatoes Or you can sub fresh fruit for the potatoes which I did. Also you can chose from around 35 different items to add to your omelet. I like the Linguisa, Bangers (English sausage), Smoked Ham and for the cheese I add English Stilton, along with Feta Cheese and Goat Cheese and for veggies I add mushrooms and black olives. Also included with the omelets is your choice of breads or a House-made Scone that comes with Devonshire Cream which I chose. My wife and I enjoy The Fox & Goose Public House as one of our favorite haunts. For either Breakfast,Lunch or Dinner and their is something going on after hours to enjoy. 05/30/2015@14:17

This used to be a favorite spot for our family, but after today I doubt we will ever come back. We waited 78 minutes to be seated (and that was after half our party left in frustration so we were able to fit in a 4-person booth). After 5 more minutes waiting for a server to even glance at our table we flagged someone down and explained that we were desperate for some food and couldnt really ask our young children to wait any longer. The woman explained they were busy instead of saying she would let our server know we were eager to put our order in asap. After a few more minutes of waiting I looked for the nearest McDonalds but was voted down by the rest of my group so Im writing this to vent a bit. Fingers crossed the food is worth it.

The wife and I decided to embark upon a Saturday morning journey deep into the heart of Sacramento. In the course of our adventure we stumbled upon a culinary masterpiece of a breakfast spot, the Fox and Goose. We of course did zero research prior to our attendance so we absolutely had no clue what we were in for. After entering it became apparent that this was no ordinary location but a historical building. The pub atmosphere was inviting and the wait was minimal for a popular location. Being the typical married couple, we both ordered the same thing because our pallettes are one in the same. The Benedict Arnold was exquisite, exercising a new twist on the classic dish. I highly recommend. Until our next adventure.

Ive been coming here for over 20 years now...wow, Im old. Housed in a setting that was originally a paint company warehouse, Fox & Goose serves up British charm and good eats with its ales and fishnchips. They have an awesome brunch too -- you can tell from the rave reviews of the scones with Devonshire cream. The Devonshire whipped cream is very sweet, which is different from traditional scones w/ cream that Ive had oseas, but still very tasty. You can hear live music in the evenings and share a pitcher (or two). No doubt this spot is a Sacramento classic. Love that they have expanded with the extra private room out back and the gigantic tubes map as you head out towards the loos.

OK I HAD A VERY BAD EXPERIENCE AT THIS RESTAURANT, I USED TO PASS THIS PLACE BY EVERY DAY AFTER WORK AND THIS MORNING I FINALLY STOPPED BY TO TRY THEIR FOOD WITH A FRIEND AND EVEN THOUGH PEOPLE WERE SUPER NICE, THE FOOD THAT I ORDERED CALIFORNIAN OMELETTE ARRIVED COLD AND WEARY. IT LOOKED LIKE IT WAS LIGHTLY REHEATED IN THE MICROWAVE AND DUMPED ON PLATE, WITH ALL TH FRUITS SCATTERED. I AM SORRY BUT I WOULD NEVER GO THERE AGAIN, EVEN THOUGH IT LOOKED VERY COOL IN THE INSIDE AND THE OUTSIDE, AND PEOPLE WERE REALLY NICE, THE FOOD ITSELF IS VERY VERY CHEAP NOT TO MENTION PRESENTED AWFULLY. TRY IT AND MAYBE YOU LIKE IT BUT I SURE DIDNT

A Sacramento institution, Fox & Goose is the restaurant equivalent of your favorite pair of blue jeans: cozy and well-worn. An english pub, it plates up some of the best breakfasts in town. If you arrive on a weekend, be prepared to wait. Morning treats include omelets and Pub Grills: two eggs, English country potatoes, served with traditional bangers (thats sausage) or kippers (smoked Atlantic herring). Later in the day, order the beer-battered fish and chips, a Cornish pastry or Welsh rarebit - an English muffin doused with a cheesy, beer-flavored sauce that will warm you down to your cold toes.
