I was in the food and wine industry for many years; 15 +. Runquist wines were by far my favorite to sell. They are the wine that I buy to give as gifts and to host a nice a dinner with. The cost for the quality is leaps and bounds over any California wine out there. Every time I opened a bottle at a table I knew they were going to enjoy it. And the cost at a place where anyone who came into the restaurant I worked at (Grange Sacramento) could afford. It was the gem on the list (thats what I always ask the server when I go out, "whats the hidden gem.") Well, its Jeff Runquist, what varietal do you typically like to enjoy, I ask them? Oh, thats very similar to this unique varietal that they produce. And so on and so on..... This is a must try, you will not only be happy, but grateful. Trust me! The petite sirah is my favorite, most recommended and guaranteed to blow your socks off. When you see this on a menu for around 50 bucks at a restaurant, it holds up to any wine at $100 or more, I guarantee it. Keep doing what youre doing, Im sure you are reeping the rewards. :)

Ive heard nothing but great things about Runquist wines and was super excited when it came up on the itinerary for my girlfriends birthday - which a limo was rented and multiple reservations were made. When we arrived at Runquist, we were TURNED AWAY because of the high number of guests they had..to his credit, the limo driver asked if we could sit outside (there were no guests outside) and again were told NO. Deplorably bad service for someone with a reservation...so disappointed. The wine may be great, but in my book if the clients are treated indifferently, its not worth it. There are so many other great wines/wineries in the area.

The wines are fantastic but we were largely ignored. The two of us waited minutes between pours and the servers didnt seem to be conversational at all. It was not a warm experience. Wed just left Bella Piazza where we had the opposite experience (warm and conversational). Well be skipping this winery in the future but continuing to drink their wines purchased at a store.

I love their wines. I found out about them from my brother in law. While weve never been to their tasting room, we are both members due to one person that visited them and encouraged us to join their club. The wine is fantastic. I love getting my shipments in the mail. This winery will be on my list when I visit the area soon! Kudos to Runquist from Atlanta, GA!

Just visited Jeffs tasting room on 5/21 on a recommendation from some locals we met at another winery here in Amador. Glad we stopped in!!! We enjoyed all the wines at the tasting, which I can say was the first time that has happened. We purchased a case of the best Petite Sirah we ever tasted, and joined the wine club as well.
