Come here to at least check out the view! Its amazing, since you are sitting on top of a hill and overlooking the Plymouth area. Yes the wines are on the younger side, but I tried out their red blend at an event in El Dorado Hills at Siena and that was enough for me to check them out the next time I was in the area! I ended up buying more of that stuff when I was here: 2009 Round Up Red. I dont remember the cost, somewhere around $10 - $15 or so. The tasting room has a modern feel to it. Lots of wooden features, drought-resistant landscaping and curving green area. The picnic grounds are sheltered, open air and you can bring your own food, buy a bottle of wine and have a boozy lunch with a view. While on the smaller side, I dont believe the Amador County area has an outdoor concert facility just yet. I would come here to try it out for sure. Service-wise in the tasting room, it was pleasant enough. One guy was a little full of himself, but the younger guy (a Flynn lookalike from Glee) was down to earth, helpful and informative.

Went to my first concert at Helwig. The venue is beautiful and the winery is beautiful. But I only gave a 3 star rating because of our experience at the concert. First off, the band we went to see, Gregg Rollie, only played 1 hour and 15 minutes and we paid $55 for that!! Im very disappointed that it was so short and will hesitate to go to any more concerts because its not worth the money for so little time. Also my friend is handicapped. There are minimal handicapped parking spots. We ended up having to park at the bottom of the parking lot down a steep hill. They did have some small carts to haul people up the hill, but she had to wait for 15-20 minutes before someone came to give her a ride up to the venue! By the time she got up there, the concert had already started (it started 30 minutes earlier than advertised). The band was great but $55 is a lot to pay for a little over an hour of music and a lack of handicapped parking for large events.

We love bringing crackers and cheese with some fruit and sitting overlooking the surrounding area. Have a hummingbird who visits us, too. Stop in the tasting room and pick up s split to drink with lunch and enjoy the ambiance. Good wine, great company, and beautiful view.....does it get any better? Try the Helwig Roundup White for a fresh taste (great with cheese and crackers).

They have a gorgeous view, but skip the wine. Its not very good and the experience is like visiting a Best Buy. Take a picnic and sit on the patio, but enjoy a different beverage.

Wonderful experience with my wife. Great wine, excellent service in the awesome tasting room. Grounds are beautiful, views are great. Will definitely pack a picnic lunch next time!

The view was beautiful. However, the wine was not good, overpriced and very dissapointing. The truffle potato chips and the view were the high points.

Asked to move for a bridal shower party of 12. Wine is not great...when asked a third time to move, we left. Will never go back.
