With its ersatz Spanish architectural motifs and grand entrada, Casa Real feels more like something right out of Disneyland than part of a winery. Recently Casa Real became embroiled in a nasty dispute with a very close friend of mine who owns a taco truck that has been doing business (with all required city and county permits) in front of what is now Casa Real for the past 18 years (actually longer than Casa Real has been in business). The kerfuffle began when someone from Casa Real showed up at the taco truck and started complaining to the owner of the truck about the way some of the truck’s Latino customers were dressed. The owner was further told she would have to move her truck (which was on public property). It was further claimed that Casa Real had friends in the City of Pleasanton who would evict her if she didn’t move the truck. Several weeks later the City of Pleasanton ordered the owner of the truck to stop doing business in her longtime location on the grounds that the truck was obstructing traffic, even though, for the past 18 years there had been no complaints about this. I tried personally to intervene in this dispute, writing to both Casa Real and the City, but so far to no avail. In the meantime, charges of racism on the part of Casa Real have begun to surface and as of this posting they have not been resolved. If you are planning an upcoming wine-themed event, at least for now it would probably be best to choose one of the 40 or so alternative wineries in the Livermore Valley to host it. Note added (8/28/17): At the instigation of Casa Real and its affiliate Ruby Hill Winery, the city of Pleasanton has now posted permanent No Stopping signs along the stretch of Vineyard Ave where the owner of a taco truck has been doing business for the past 18 years. This effectively seals the fate of the truck as its temporary location will not be available for much longer. Casa Reals initial complaint was that having a taco truck with Latino customers on public property near their event center was inconsistent with their image as a high end brand, such as it is. The city---loyal only to Casa Real and Ruby Hill, meanwhile, refuses to negotiate with the owner of the truck over her longtime right to do business in her former location, choosing to put up No Stopping signs instead. Now the city and Casa Real/Ruby Hill are poised to drive her out of Pleasanton and possibly out of business. Boycotts of and complaints to Casa Real, Ruby Hill Winery, and the city of Pleasanton are now clearly in order. Located in a scenic vineyard area of the Bay Area, this place knows how to add the details to make any special event even more special. I attended a wedding and noticed the unique and beautiful touches subtly applied to the room. The food was great and the outdoor patio area looked like a great place to talk and take pictures. Alas, it was too cold for all who was there to enjoy. Still, I had a great time and recommend, like a million other folks, this place for your special occasion.

I was actually there when they came out to argue with a lady that owns the taco truck outside their property. She has been there since I was a child. And they talked and treaTed her as a child. If I drove by and witnessed this place on fire I wouldnt even call the fire department to put it out. Horrible disposable people!

Glad these guys finally told the taco truck to move. adds a lot of value to the area and the over all aesthetic to this area in the community. I would never plan an event when there is a bunch of construction workers and truck drivers a long with a giant dilapidated taco truck out front of the venue.

We attended a wedding here last night, and it was spectacular! The lobby was great for pre- and post- nuptial cocktail hours, the ceremony area was beautiful, and the reception hall had gorgeous views out over the winery. I particularly enjoyed the sparkling wine from Ruby Hill.

Its a fun spot for medium sized groups but larger groups can feel a little cramped. It gets pretty packed on the weekends and can feel a little touristy. Wine is good though but if you want something on the mellow side, this isnt the spot for that.

I would not buy wine there. Their wine is nothing out of the ordinary and completely overpriced. Plenty of other quality wines out there for a reasonable price. Also their wedding packages are way too much for the location.

Was here attending a private party.. the place is classy and uppity.. awesome surroundings and location. Am not sure if the food was catered or in house. Whatever the case, it was tasty and well executed.

Trying to ruin a small family business (Taco Truck) is deplorable. This is someones livelihood. I have bought lunch there and the food and service were both great. Pass on this high society hangout.

Their wine is over priced for being mediocre in quality. You will find better wine at many of the other smaller Livermore Valley wineries.
