Played this course numerous times. Its one of the best deals in the Bay Area, ranging from $10 super twilight to numerous golfnow promotions. The holes are quite varied, although total course distance is actually quite short compared to others. There are extreme elevation changes on most of the holes, so bring your A-game concerning impact shots otherwise youre not going to score very well here. No water hazard to speak of, and the 3 bunkers that exist are barely in play. This course is all about how well you hit off a slope. Yes, theres a par 6 hole 18, but its quite gimmicky in that the ball just rolls down to the same spot for your 2nd/3rd shot towards the green. Fun way to end a round though. Its possible to walk this course, although your legs will tire out by hole 15 due to how many hills you climb. Highlight hole is #9, a 140 yard par 3 that plays more like a 120 yard due to how much lower the green is compared to the tee box. Overall, fun and cheap course. Greens are usually pretty slow and easy to read compared to other course in the bay.

This is, by far, one of my favorite courses to play. It is so much fun...as long as you like all the rolling hills, elevated greens, and gimmicky layouts. Minus the giant clown face and castles, it felt like playing a big "mini-golf" course. The rolling hills make a cart necessary, unless you want to get a good work-out. My favorite hole is the one where you have to look at a mirror ahead of you because the green is about 20 ft straight down and you cant see it from the tee box. Its a par 3! Lots of fun. I would say, though, you will have to look out for the cars that pass through some of the fairways, as the road to the clubhouse goes straight through the course. The best part about this course is the price and promotions. I have very limited funds and appreciate the deals that Lake Chabot Golf Course promotes. Everyone should sign up for e-mails because you get a special deal on your birthday.

This hidden gem is tucked away in the East Oakland Hills and is worth every penny of their great rates! Not for a beginner, this course will humble you with its uphill battle on the #1 tee and the blind tee shots over the hill as you soak in the beauty of the Chabot fauna and flora. One par 3 is an elevated tee shot to a green so far downhill you just have to aim and hope it makes it! The finishing 600+ yard PAR 6 dares you to hit it across a ravine but reality will set in when you find that your ball is just halfway down the hill you started from. Another surprise was hearing the Oakland Raiders game from some of the back 9 holes which also have some of the BEST views of the San Francisco Bay Area. I hope to play here again soon.

I have played on this course a few times, the last time about 2 years ago. Everything nice about this course has been said already - the hilarious 18th hole, the awesome view on the 15th hole, and the fantastically cheap prices. Why 4 stars? Because the last time I played there was a bit of a drainage problem - the weather was a bit drizzly and every time my ball hit the ground it would sink 2 inches. Doesnt matter where the ball landed - rough, green, fairway, sand. I had to give up by the 7th hole since I was getting quite frustrated trying to whack the ball out of the ground every time, even after a good-looking shot. I heard they fixed the drainage, though. When I get time again Ill challenge the course again.

My daughter and I play golf with the First Tee of Oakland. With the First Tee, we have the opportunity to travel to golf courses all over. This golf course has always been the most inviting to us, allowing young golfers a chance to become skilled players and build life skills. The staff is extremely helpful and courteous. Golf can be very expensive when always playing for two players. This course and our First Tee discount makes it affordable for us to get in some games off season. The hills allow us to get some good exercise in while playing. The course is beautiful and serene, full of gorgeous views. The wild turkeys and deer that occasionally visit the park are fun to watch while playing as well ;+).

I played this course when we they were running one of their numerous specials, so we got a cart and drink included with our round. The expansive course with beautiful views (especially on the back nine) was worth the drive over from San Francisco. I visited Lake Chabot with my mom on a sunny Saturday. As an advanced-beginner player I was a little intimidated to play such a large course and be paired with other players, but the vibe was friendly and welcoming and it was an enjoyable, approachable, but challenging course. The driving range gets the job done and the clubhouse is a nice place to pause for a drink or simple meal before or after your round. I want to go back!

I have played golf for ten years and seen just about everything...hole-in-one, broken ankle while teeing off, huge bomb from across the green, eagle from the fairway, jarring it from the bunker, etc., however on Hole 18 at Chabot I saw mind boggling...my partners drive went 500 yards and then he bogeyed the hole! The drive found the seam and rolled all the way to the bottom of the hill...he then proceeded to hack his way to the green and miss three putts. Un-freaking believable! A great round and a wonderful average day at Chabot...go soon!

Lake Chabot Golf Course is by far one of the most fun courses to play in the Bay Area. When you compare "Apples to Apples Chabot does have its negative aspects, for example grass conditions, greens, etc, but the layout and holes are what makes it the best. Hole 10, 15, and 18 make the green fees worth the price of admission. Like the saying goes Dont judge a book by its cover because if you do youll miss out on playing of the coolest course in the Bay. BTW the BBQ after hole 12 is the best around:)

Chabot is a great public course! Its not easy to get a tee time, but its a fun layout with a bunch of different holes that weave in and around the hills. I almost always walk the course and its very walk-able with every tee not too far from the previous green. Since Im about 25-30 minutes from the course, I dont play it as often as I would like. Staff is friendly. I dont remember any annoying marshals, but pace of play was always good (so there must be some marshals around helping).

Chabot serves the greater Oakland Community in addition to being a fun course! I usually see a number of youth golfers there. I think thats great! The course has a lot of regulars who know it well. The front nine has a bunch of back-and-forth holes across the center valley, but the back nine stretches the courses legs out by Lake Chabot and some nice East Bay views. Its beneficial to not be littered with houses like so many cookie cutter courses. It stands on its own very well.
