The cool, hip, vibe of this tiny re-purposed little house is the perfect setting for tasting Pierce Ranch Vineyards selection of wines. While they do produce some of the classics like Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, And Cabernet Sauvignon, they are much more at home with the interesting Spanish and Portuguese varietals that have earned them much praise. Fans of Pinto Gris and Sauv Blanc will find themselves at home with the Albarino, with its bright fruit flavors and dry finish. Fans of interesting reds will get a kick out of the ever changing Tempranillo, Touriga, and the occasional Tinto Cao. The last two are grapes normally only found in Ports but they are definitely worth exploring on their own. Finally, I cannot say enough about the perks of membership. The complimentary tastings plus a discount on wine purchased would be enough to justify it, but Pierce goes far beyond this. In addition to letting you pick the wines for your quarterly allotment, they throw one hell of a party with tastings of new, yet to be released, wines and a constant flow of gourmet food. Its an experience not to be missed.

Loved it! We went to Monterey last year for our anniversary and discovered their tasting room because it was on some walking wine tour of Monterey. Great place, lots of different types of wines (tempranillo, tourbillon - I highly recommend both!) and great prices. We had fun sitting around trying everything. The owners son was there pouring drinks and was very friendly. There seemed to be a lot of young officers from the base nearby with their spouses/significant others. The atmosphere was great, the wine was delicious. We loved it so much we bought a whole case of wine! Definitely worth stopping here. Also, try their Vinho Doce.

While the location is small, I cant think of a wine tasting room Id rather go to. The tasting is cheaper than Ive seen anywhere else in the area and their selection is fantastic. I wont be able to use any complex vocabulary to describe their wines, but I find they have a unique (great) taste that stands out above other wines that keeps me coming back. Ive also engaged in great conversations with the servers and the music nights are an additional treat that really compliment the tasting.

Ok, so the staff are very friendly, the place is comfortable and relaxing, and the wines are very interesting (Portuguese and Spanish influence). The prices are also very fair. To be honest though the wines were lacking in character and were quite dull. Not a huge fan, nevertheless still a nice place to visit.

Tasty Spanish style wines, low key, and reasonable prices on bottles. A great break from the bustle of cannery row, and a great place to bring your pooch!
