The winery itself is absolutely gorgeous and their wine is usually very good across the board for the different styles they make. We joined their club and honestly are on the fence about whether or not its worth it. With the membership card you get to go to the winery and do free tastings, they do things like out door movie nights, etc... which is nice because the grounds are so pretty, but weve seen their wine in stores for cheaper than the cost of the member ship. Also, they have a "pick up" party every year, which was this past Sunday, and they really changed it this year, it was a big step down from previous events. Last year they had wonderful food and catering and you could keep your tasting glass. This year they just seemed under prepared and like they were cutting corners. The area where you had to park was absolutely covered in Horse droppings. It was almost impossible to not step in it, I was pretty baffled that they would allow their patrons to walk through manure rather than plan ahead an pick up the fields a few days before the event. They didnt seem prepared to handle the turn out that arrived at all and there was a line that took close to an hour to get through in the blazing hot sun, with no water offered until inside the event. Standing in a hot manure covered field with no water for an hour really didnt get me in the mood to drink wine. Then, instead of having delicious catering at different stations throughout the grounds like they did last year, you were given a "meal ticket" and picked up a cardboard lunch box to have with your tastings. The box was really cheap. A roll of bread, an under ripened pear, a small cluster of grapes, a cup of salted nuts, a piece of chocolate, a small thing of cheese and a dietz & watson beef stick (aka a slimjim). It felt like an airline lunch and I was really disappointed. Last year you were also allowed to keep your glass and this year you couldnt. I asked one of the ladies who worked there, who had a Semler last name why the lunch was so different this year and her response was rather snooty and she responded that she had 2 times the turn out this year than they did last year... but shouldnt that mean they have twice as many members paying fees? I realize they dont HAVE to even host such events, but if youre paying higher prices for the wine than what you can get at the grocery store for the membership "perks" when I come to your big blow out event, can I get a pear thats ripe and not step in poo? Just really gave me the impression that they were being cheap, it definitely felt that way.

anticipate your drive to be at least an hr, if they have traffic it may be even longer! I strongly suggest to pack yourself a picnic because there literally is no restaurants just a snack station by the golf areas, and its pretty much sandwiches and hot dogs! Nothing wine related, to enhanced your wine for all you wino out there! The location of the vineyard is actually an extension to another vineyard from a couple of miles up so dont get confused..go to the Golf Course!! Though the location doesnt give you the beach of Malibu it was very secluded and very serene! The guy wine pourer were a lot more generous with the pour of the wine as opposed to the girl- so go to the guys, they give you more details on where and how they were made and they make it sound so scrumptious!

Had the greatest time ever on Mothers Day this last sunday, May 10th...had no expectations, only a "surprise gift" from my son & his girlfriend that we were going on a "wine safari" in Malibu...It was fantastic! Our guides were gracious and knowledgeable, extremely entertaining and witty. A bit "Disneylandish" but all the more fun! The vistas, the wine, the company, the open air and the shear thought a family shares their business to enjoyment of others made it just a wonderful day!! If you want to treat someone for a enjoyable day, dont hesitate to take them here!! I loved it, and am planning on taking a group out there soon!!
