Reservations/Bookings: Such a great company with great service and flexibility. I ended up in a pickle, had bought the North Fork trip for 2 people (on a weekday, lunch included) and booked the trip in April 2015. I also reserved and paid for the wetsuits that were required since I did not own any. Received a call back that the trip had to be cancelled because the water levels were just not high enough due to the drought. AC refunded the amount I paid for the wetsuits and said I could switch to either a South Fork or Middle Fork trip (either weekday or weekend since weekdays are cheaper than weekends) and lunch included at no extra cost. I did not book right the trip right away since I had to check with my friend about the dates available to go. Called Adventure Connection and left a message. About 30 minutes after, I received a call from Nathan Rangel (President of Adventure Connection). He was superb in every way about handling the reservation details and was very informative, answered all my questions. I had to email him the voucher codes and he was also very prompt, booked my trip and emailed me the same day with all the forms to fill out along with trip preparation guidelines, etc. Overall, just a great company with how they handled cancelled trips, re-booking, and customer service. I recommend AC to my friends and family, and everyone I meet that are looking forward to an awesome whitewater experience. The Trip: I feel so bad I forgot our guides name since it has been awhile, however he was great in that he was very confident in his skills and was knowledgeable about the surrounding areas and spots to go to if you wanted to do things other than whitewater rafting. He was from Montana and grew up rafting so I felt very safe with him being our guide. We even stopped to pick blackberries off the vines for a bit, which was nice. During a maneuver, our raft rammed into a rock head first. I sat in the back left and was totally knocked out of the raft and could have ended up in an eddy on the side, but he was very quick and by the time I knew it, I was getting pulled back onto the raft. He was so awesome! You will be safe with AC and their guides!

This is for the experience in May 2013. Wonderful experience! The BFs boss organized this trip for a bunch of their co-workers and I took the day off to join~ I am so glad I did. We were running a tad late, but they were very friendly and told us not to worry. Our party was big enough to fill two rafts and it was a Friday during early season. We were greeted by Jeffrey who kindly collected all our waivers and loaded us up with gear! I must warn you if you are a germaphobe bring your own life jacket since it does smell a bit. But you will get used to the smell because you will just keep getting wet! Gear = helmet (mainly to protect your heads from bumping too hard), life jacket and paddle! Then on to the bus we went~ got dropped off at the location. We separated into two groups I was on the raft with Riley leading us. He was awesome!!! We quickly went through some practice paddling and off we went! Class III rapids come after lunch~ LUNCH WAS GREAT! I checked Yelp to see how the lunch was, since some of these types of trips do not provide enough and the BF gets hungry~ wanted to be prepared! But that was not a concern! No skimping out there! We can even get seconds. I dont know what it was but I thought the burgers were delicious... not sure why people were raving about cookies. They do veggie burgers as well (you might need to request it) Riley had us ride a wave and did it three times, told us about the funny shaped rocks (gorilla shaped, Ronald Reagan shaped --- I think it looks more like Elivis, etc) and was just an all around chill and happy guide! BRING CASH! So you can tip them! They deserve it~ they spend the whole day with you and they use your name as much as possible...haha dedication!

written: 1/31/13 ONE DAY OF WONDERFUL We had a wonderful day on our one-day trip down the American River - South Fork, last summer. We booked through Travel Zoo and Im trying to decide if Id like to buy another one of their great deals for this year, while its on sale. It was easy to book the trip once wed purchased the deal. It was harder for us to figure out a weekend my husband would be home, that we were both free. We ended up going close to the end of summer and it was beautiful weather. There was a good-sized group of people and it was easy to find the meeting location. Lunch was served half-way through the day and it was pretty good. The guides were friendly and had a lot of experience so I never felt unsafe. My husband jumped out of the raft in one rapids are where they said the brave could safely navigate craft-free. I am not the brave. He survived though. The two-day package sounds like a lot of fun, but itd be too much for me. One day was plenty! We brought our Fuji camera (waterproof) and got some great shots! We also bought a professional one. There were two companies selling them with comparable prices. We just picked the shot we liked best and went with it. The current special offered through TravelZoo is $79 for the one-day trip with lunch (regularly $160). I believe we paid $80 each last year, also.

Over the past 25 years I have taken at least 15 rafting trips down the South Fork of The American River. I have used various raft touring and outfitting companies and have a fair basis for comparison. Adventure Connection provided a terrific day on the river with knowlgeable raft handlers. I lucked out with a boat load of sorority girls and just myself....a 45 year old pre-geezer. It was great fun and we all joked and bantered back and forth and the raft guide also joined in on the fun. I wish I could say I ended up going back to their sorority house with them, but of course I was just dreaming. I will remember the fun Adventure Connection made possible on that trip. The only complaint I have was the cold cut assortment at lunch could have had more to choose from. I highly recommend this outfit for all age groups. Families with young kids under 10 will especially like the attention to detail provided for safety. I

My sister in law found Adventure Connection from a friend of hers as they had a group that booked with them previously at a great price. My sister in law was able to get the same discounted rate even though the promotion had expired. Thats what I call a great company thats willing to bend the rules a bit to appease their customers. We did the two night camping, lunch buffet and half day kayak trip. The campsite we got was awesome. It was right by the river and was just perfect. The lunch buffet consisted of typical bbq items such as bbq chicken, hamburgers & hot dogs but tasted great especially after being on the water for a few hours. The kayak was obviously what we came for and we were not disappointed in the least. We had a great time and would definitely go again. Thanks Adventure Connection for making this happen and for providing an experience well never forget.
