Overpriced, understaffed, rude and abusive bouncers, and elusive management. I dont ever write reviews for locations, but in the case of Exchange LA I have to let people know about how disappointing and abusive my experience was. I went to ExchangeLA with my friends and girlfriend for my birthday thinking it would be great. We got VIP passes, a table, and got seated. The first part of the night was OK but nothing special. Eventually, when towards the end of the night I got quite drunk so I was helped by security to their "Care" room to be helped into a taxi. My girlfriend, who wasnt that drunk, along with my friend come with and let the paramedic who was there know that she was my GF and would be staying with me. At that point, my GF put my wallet and phone into her bag for safekeeping. After a while in the care room, a bouncer came in and started to act suspicious. He asked to see my ID and when my GF took out my wallet to find my ID, he saw that I had some money inside. At that point, he stopped asking for ID and wanted the wallet to be handed over. My GF, who felt it was very suspicious he suddenly wanted the wallet, didnt want to hand it over so the bouncer started to verbally abuse and even threatened to arrest her. When she still refused, the bouncer tried to restrain her and pin her against the wall before reaching for the wallet. Thankfully, at that point the paramedic (who just stood there and watched for the most part) tried to step in. And once my other friend noticed he grabbed us and put us into a taxi right away. When I came back to complain the following day, the manager refused to tell us the name of the bouncer and simply said to call management. So I called management and was told that the main manager wasnt in. I told the assistant what happened and she promised me that she would tell the manager and he would call back by the end of the day. At the end of the day, I never received a call so I called them back. She said that she didnt know where he was and I should call back later. Two days later I called again, and she still said she didnt know but would email all the info to the manager and other personnel in management. The following week I didnt hear a response so I called them again and got a different person. She said that she, nor the manager, ever received anything from the first lady so I told her the full story again. Eventually, another week later, I managed to get in contact with the manager who said that he would look into it and get back to me by the end of the week. I never received a call or message that week and when I called back the following week the assistant said he was busy and would call me back when he was done. This cycle continued until finally the manager gave me a call. Unfortunately I was busy at the time so I told him to email me and I gave him my email. He never did. Eventually I found his email and emailed him once a week but never received an answer. It took almost 2 months to finally get in contact with him and have him give us his analysis. He said that they did nothing wrong and my GF was the one who was fully suspicious so they were just thinking in my best interest. They even claimed that she snuck into the care room and took my phone and wallet from me. There are much better clubs in Los Angeles. Save yourself the trouble and dont go here. The bouncers dont care for you at all and the management will do whatever they can to avoid taking responsibilities. I never even got the champagne that I paid for.

Let me start by saying Im not a high brow person and I will never pretend to be. This place tries way too hard to be "the club of LA." No club will ever be worth waiting as long in line as I had to for this. Not to mention the fact that if you are a guy, you WILL pay. No matter what. Like, I had a friend DJ-ing this and was supposed to get in for free, but the bouncers were "gracious" enough to only ask to charge me for half of the whole cover charge (which apparently varies on who you are and what group you show up with between $40-$50, a higher amount if you show up by yourself as a guy, or with a group of just guys). Furthermore, why the heck does a club charge this much if they cant even get an actual credit card machine? Do I really have to pay $3 at your ATM to get the cover to get in your club? The answer is no. Because no club is worth this amount of BS. Club culture profits from making part of or everything feel exclusive, when the truth is: youre in a big room with loud music that you could go anywhere for. People, save your money and go to Bootie LA. Its $10, and the best crowd and music youll experience for some real fun. But hey, if youre insecure enough about your personal life to feel like you have to drop over $100 in one night at one place to affirm that you had a good weekend, thats youre own business.

Dont come here unless you enjoy getting ripped off. I paid for a ticket that included a "free drink..." Come to find out that "free drink" is interpreted as "White Russian only," even though it didnt say that anywhere on the ticket. The White Russian was sickeningly sweet, with way too much Kahlua. My friend, who also had a "free drink" ticket, was allergic to milk, but even she couldnt substitute her "free drink" for something more substantial, milk or not. To make matters worse, later that evening, a drink I purchased mysteriously vanished less than a minute after I set it down in the main room so that I could adjust the forearm crutches that I require to stand. Security was standing right in front of my drink the entire time, so theres no way they could have missed what happened to it. I suspect that someone in the cleaning staff deftly snatched it away while I wasnt looking, even though it was practically full. But when I brought it up with security and management, they were completely unhelpful and uncooperative. Not their responsibility what happens to the customers drinks, they say. So I recommend coming here if you enjoy having your drinks stolen.

I come here for Awakening Fridays when Im not too tired to go out or when my friend bugs me to go. If you show up early then hit up Syrup across the street for some waffles and coffee. My favorite EDM club with crappy reception unless you have an iphone5. Last time I went it was pretty ravey inside...which I hate...but I love the music and their laser light show is so cool. The venue could get pretty crowded but theres enough space to breathe if you get slightly claustrophobic. First floor is pretty chill with an outdoor smoking area, second floor has 3 different rooms (1 main stage, 1 with bar and another where you can sit and chat) and third floor you need a bracelet and you get a great view of the dj from above away from the crowd. dress code: not strict, i usually wear something comfortable parking: valet parking everywhere drink: nothing that great, if you want something to get you drunk then ask for LA Water crowd: lots of asians note: The 2nd floor where the main stage is the best place to feel the music with the speakers bumpin. The top floor is great if you cant stand being in crowds. random: facebook the movie was filmed here
