This review is for Claires. What a great place to come for brunch in Long Beach! Its located inside a museum. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. I would suggest sitting outdoor because you get a nice breeze along with a nice view of the beach nearby. Long Beach is actually pretty quiet from up on the 2nd floor, so its a great place to just chill, enjoy some food, and a Bloody Mary. For food, I got the New York Steak and Eggs. Whats great about this dish was that it came topped with Mushroom Gravy and Blue Cheese. The Blue Cheese is definitely what brought out the flavors! I did not get to try their other brunch items like the omelettes or eggs benedict. Ive heard from a couple friends that these were not that great... So my 4 star review is based mainly on what I ordered. The bloody mary with bacon was good. Ive also tried the one with the shrimp and that was good as well. I do not taste alcohol at all. Overall, pretty chill place. Ambiance was nice. They have a fountain outside too, so that adds on to the relaxing mood.

I really wish google allowed people to rate something without giving it a star. This restaurant was absolutely disgusting. Worst dining experience of my entire life. First of all, the waiter was incredibly rude and pretended like he couldn't understand anyone or just walked away completely after people in my group said something. We asked for some bread, but he refused to bring us any. The food was not very good at all. How can someone mess up macaroni and cheese?? Then, when I got home l, I threw up my lunch. They could not pay me to eat at this restaurant! It's a shame really, because the location is beautiful. It's right next to the water, but I cannot come back in good faith.

I think this museum is better known for its location than its art collection, but I was happy to see that its latest show, "Vitality and Verve," seems to have put it on the radar of contemporary art lovers from all over the Southern California area. Its a very small museum, but I believe thats part of its charm. The curators and staff definitely work hard to showcase the art in the best light and the displays are always top-notch. When the weathers nice the view of the ocean from the second floor is truly magnificent. The view is what makes its museum cafe, Claires, one of the citys most favorite weekend brunch spots. After my last pleasant visit I realized I need to go more often!

I went on Sunday with three of my friends. We had so much fun. We sat outside and the view was fantastic. We had: 1. Spinach Scrambler 2. Spinach Scrambler with egg whites and no cheese. Substitutions were not a problem. 3. Kobe burger protein style - the person that had this loved it. 4. Blackened Salmon Salad - the person that had this loved it. 5. Banana/walnut buttermilk pancakes - the bananas were great but the pancake were a little heavy - we couldnt quite put our finger on what we didnt like about the pancakes. 6. Banana Bread Pudding, which was excellent. We look forward to going back and trying more items off the menus. Servers were pleasant and helpful.

Just commenting on the art (not the food, though the cafe setting looked lovely). Parking lot is free and two spaces down from the museum. Luckily, the AAA rate made admission free (otherwise it is $7 for adults and $6 for kids). The art was nice, but it is a pretty small exhibit, not worth $6-7 per person. Our family of 4 spent probably 30 minutes browsing. Compared to the larger art museums we have been to, this was nice but wed suggest going to the cafe for the nice view (and in the upstairs of the cafe house, you can see some ceramic art) instead of paying for 4 rooms of art.

This is a review for Claires, the restaurant at the art museum. It’s set on the patio with a spectacular view of the ocean. Very classy and nice place to take a date on a sunny weekend. They have a full service bar, with specialty blood mary’s. never tried it, but looked interesting and cups were HUGE. My girlfriend had the crème brulee French toast- I don’t know what makes it “crème brulee,” but was still really good and the perfect amount of sweet. I had the shrimp avocado omelette- solid choice, didn’t blow my mind, large size shrimps though.

Wow. Amazing Sunday brunch. Of course, I heard about from folks around town, but boy. Mmm Mmm good! Is all I have to say and the service was wonderful. Now the museum was surprising the prize of the day. Impressive, I would say. I was stimulate by the collection of works of art in all media including painting, sculpture, contemporary craft. Art going back 300 years. If you are visiting downtown Long Beach. Put this on your Must See List!!! You will have a great experience.

Es un lugar bello. Donde dan oportunidad a nuestros hijos que son estudiantes a aprender del arte. Y los motivan . Como también los premian a los niños colocando su arte en sus paredes.

I didnt try the restaurant, but the musuem itself was artistically weak and the displays were incredibly lame. There were only 2 items in the entire (10 minute walk-through) museum. Ive seen more creative, dynamic, and conceptual art in cafes. Im sorry Long Beach, Ive got nothing but love for you, but I just cannot see how this museum draws in enough revenue to continue to exist.

hmmmm what can... Thursday evening was free. there is some really great art and some not so great art. I feel like I could build something for this place. I was very jet lagged but I did enjoy the place. I think they want a donation. kinda hoovering over me and my friends. I think better to just charge if you do this. this is the reason for the 4 stars.

Went here for a Sunday brunch, and while the wait was a bit excessive, the waiting area is pleasant with a great view over the water. Drinks are a bit pricey and take a LONG time, so order early. Seems they have one bar to service not only the wait room, but also the entire restaurant. Good food, great location and atmosphere.

As a retiree I love Thursdays are free at the Museum. Along with an amazing free book binding class going on Thursday evenings for 6 weeks, it has been one of my favorite things to do since recently moving here. Thank you for offering these wonderful opportunities to experience the arts for those of us on limited incomes.

Smaller art museum compared to the many others in the Los Angeles County area but still one to check out. They have some amazing instalation exhibits at times and definitely try and make it worth the visits. Check out their website for more info on times to even attend free. Plus really great beach and ocean views.

Quaint, quiet, relaxing museum overlooking the ocean. Great monthly rotation of acclaimed artists and exhibitions. Claires Cafe serves up great breakfast and lunch with both indoor and outdoor seating. Flower garden and a few outdoor installations. This nonpretentious museum is always free on Fridays. A SoCal gem.

First time visiting was as a VIPS volunteer for my daughters class. Very nice and picturesque place overlooking the reason why Long Beach got its name! Nice exhibitions. The staff that assisted with the school tour were knowledgeable about the exhibits and did a great job explaining the exhibits to the children.
