The Last time I went was years ago, and I just want to say that this place has a lot of history behind it and if you want to know more about the history of Wilmington Ca. and know more about Phineas Banning and all this indeed is the place to come to for a plenty of history about Wilmington as well as the Drum Barracks Museum. It is really a neat museum as well as you can really learn a lot about this place and how Wilmington was founded and about this wonderful Museum. So if you would like some history about Wilmington Ca. and all Please come here to the Drum Barracks Museum you will get a lot of history as well as learn more about how Wilmington was founded. Please come here it is great. I also got to sing here for the founding of this place years ago and I was glad that I got to sing when this place was refounded. Thank you so much.

If you want a very cool experience look under the stairs and see where the quartermaster wrote his notes on the wall. See the pictures of the camel corps. You can feel the history The guys who marched from about Iowa through Arizona and into California-the longest infantry march in US history were discharged here. Some went up and built a lumber mill for Sutter and found gold. The rest is history.

It was closed when we arrived, but just walking around the perimeter of the grounds gives an amazing sense of the history. It is a fascinating since we so often think very little of the Civil War in LA because, as a state, we where new to the nation. Completely worth the visit.

It doesnt look like much from the outside but the inside is full of history. The young woman giving the tour was very educated about the war and general knowledge of the time period. My husband is a history buff and even he learned things he didnt know. We loved it.
