mostly I have been here for the spring strawberry music festival events since they moved from nearer yosemite after the rim fire. Unlike the very remote older location, these fairgrounds are only about 5 minutes to downtown grass valley by car or 15 by bicycle or 25 walking (and fairly hilly), so campers at the festival can go to town and get stuff that they forgot or buy more food or whatever. Cell phone signals and internet-bandwidth are available from local towers. Some people dont like that, insisting that it spoils the isolated "mountain" culture of the old festival, but I live in mountains myself and have fewer idealistic notions about that. I like it even though you can hear some highway noise from CA-20 and the relatively busy road on the north side of the park as well. Its still a nice piece of real estate, with a small lake that allows kids (but not adults) to fish apparently. The terrain is flat on the south end and hilly on the north end, so if you want to let kids ride their bikes, make sure their brakes are working correctly. The fairgrounds also have about fifty RV spaces, year around (I presume by reservation especially in peak vacation periods) and most of them are full hook-ups. They have a dump site but since that is part of the festival entry fee, I dont know how much the fairgrounds RV park charges for that stuff otherwise. During the festival, most campers are parking RVs and pitching tents in non-hookup locations in the larger parking areas, but reserved guests (some not for the festival, but just staying for other reasons) are also using the RV hookups. Inside the fairgrounds there are concessions and restrooms and other forms of entertainment depending on what events are going on, but during the festival you do need to pay an entry fee to go "inside the gates" for the entertainment and concessions. It can be a bit tricky to make the correct turns when heading to the fairgrounds from the CA-49 interchange with CA-20 so watch the signs or better still use your GPS.

Way too expensive. Beautiful settings. Be aware, rules concerning dogs on leash are not applied consistently. You are taking your chances with off leash dogs in the RV park IF the campground host thinks that particular dog is okay. Ive had some difficulty here with off leash dogs even though the rules were reinforced quite rudely with me when I was exercising my dogs off and well away from the RV area. "Put your dogs on leash or go home." The inconsistency and rudeness of the campground host was shocking to me and tells me I can not count on them to follow their own rules. Other than that, its a beautiful spot if you can afford it.

Best fair in the state! I like the foothills. I live in the foothills with Grass Valley 40 minutes away. The Nevada County Fairgrounds is among the tall pines and so much cooler than the valley. They have good music, nice exhibits and demostrations. The only thing the Cal State Fair has on this one is name entertainment... thats it. They even have a great Christmas fair.

I worked this fair as an ice vendor. Other vendors and booths kept us very busy all week long, but the people here at this event are extremely nice, making this one of the best fairs I have ever worked at. Real honest lot of people, very welcoming, and a fairly organized event all around.

The Nevada County Fairgrounds are the most beautiful fairgrounds Ive ever been to. The grounds are clean and well taken care of. The bathrooms are cleaning the staff are all friendly and helpful. We went for the fireworks and it was awesome. I love it every time I go there for an event.

This is a beautiful pine and cedar forested fairground. I camped here for the Strawberry Music Festival and had an excellent experience. Ample facilities and well manicured site in general. Its right in Grass Valley and it was only a short 20 minute drive to swim in the Yuba River!

These fairgrounds are old and quaint, but very beautiful. You feel as if you are in a pine forest the whole time. They have great events there, from the Draft Horse Classic to the Celtic Festival, and youre guaranteed to have a good time.

We went for the 4th of July and it was fun. My kid loved the bouncy castle, and we got to eat some fried food. The band wasnt bad either. A little overpriced but we had fun so hey. (Missed fireworks as theyre after bedtime)

Todays visit was to fish at Lions Lake at the fairgrounds. It is a kids only (12 and under) fishing lake. Easy access and easy fishing. This lake is stocked with trout although we caught a lot of Blue Gill today.

Beautiful fair grounds, great ambiance and friendly people. The Nevada Food and Toy Run ends here where hundreds of bikers bring food and toys for those in need. Its my favorite run of them all.

Wonderful grounds for walking or taking in the many events throughout the year. Including the Draft Horse Classic and the Nevada County Fair to name just a few. Camping is available on site.

This space is nicely designed and laid out, the variety of venues/performance spaces are easily accessible, lots of shade available under the big trees, and the fair food is yummy!

Lazy Dog is an institution in this area. The flavors of the various ice creams is so intense. The raspberry and dark chocolate is the best, in my opinion, but all are good.

The fairgrounds are great! They have multiple buildings and different areas, plus rv parking and camping. I recommend visiting any one of the many events hosted here.

Kids had fun but the protesters are annoying; not the place to be doing such things. Wont go back because of that but its a good fair and nice setting otherwise.

Very nice camping in the trees. A little bit open with little separation between sites. I am here for a music festival and it is a great place for that!

Still the same even after 20 or so years being out of Grass Valley. It was wonderful. Game prices were high it was funny watching no.one play them.

Great location for a county fair! The tall trees provide good shade from the summer heat, and the grounds are big enough to wander most of the day.

We love the annual county fair that is home here. Great trees help with temperatures being tolerable. Food is good and exhibits are fantastic.

Traffic getting out on the 4th of July was absolutely terrible. The fairgrounds overall are by far the prettiest fairgrounds Ive ever been to.
