We stayed in Glen Ellen and had 6:30 reservations in Yountville so had some time to kill after 5 when most other wineries are closed. This winery was included in our B&B winery passport for free tastings so we stopped by. Tastings room was right off the main road and the bar was fairly crowded. They have 2 tasting menus and a specific b&b menu. The woman helping us wasnt super friendly, no greeting, she just put the menus on the counter and came back a bit later to tell us about it. After we told her we had a winery passport, she gave us the b&b menu. She didnt tell us anything about the winery and not much about the wine, she was busy doing a bunch of other things while serving people like stocking shelves, carrying boxes back and forth. It was quite strange and made the experience kind of lame. Shed disappear at times and another man behind the counter poured us 2/5 which might have been a good thing because he actually said something about the wine as he poured. The pours were of good size but the wine was unimpressive. I dumped a lot of my wine and left not liking any of them really. Not much to see here, glad we didnt pay for the tasting.

Went there on a whim...while on vacation in 2004. We were driving by there and at the time I was working for the Mayo CLINIC. Yes, it was as naive as that! At that time the tasting room was as I recall very 60s Scandinavian in decor. Very clean and well lit due to the huge picture windows. The staff was VERY helpful, knowledgeable and (just as important) personable. Every wine we tasted we either liked or loved! We walked out with half a case and joined their wine club. Highly recommend the wine & the staff, which in my experience is not quite as common as one would think in wine country.

We love their wine. We have been members for about 5 years and have had lots of great meals that were made even better with their wine pairing. The Mayo family has always been just a great bunch of people who really enjoy their jobs and their wine. They have always been very inviting when we visit from the East Coast, sharing their stories and experiences at their tasting rooms. Definately plan on going to the one with the food. It is really informative and the food is top notch.

Very convenient to those driving along Hwy 12. Definitely try the Port and the Champaign, my favorites. Their Chardonnay is extraordinary, as well. The winey used to sell wholesale, but their production is so limited that they only sell to their own customers. But, you can buy at the tasting room. If you like food pairings, visit their reserve room in Kenwood. Food and wine beautifully prepared and presented.

We did a food and wine pairing this weekend. The food was great and the wine was ok (and in generous portions). We had to sit in the parking lot for a half hour to sober up afterwards, but then the owner came out and very rudely told us to get out of his private parking lot". Politeness goes a long way, so we will never go back there.

We stopped 2/13/16 at the reserve tasting room. It was reasonably crowded, yet the single associate greeted us and poured glasses of sparkling wine until she could start our tasting experience. She covered a lot of ground, we purchased Sangiovese and plan to return for a food pairing.

Jeff and Courtney are wonderful and so is the tasting room pup to welcome you! Personalized service and will remember you by name. They dont have a strict tasting limit and will offer you special bonus wines! Rock n roll viniter of Sonoma! ; )

My wife and I have had many different Mayo wines over several years, and they just do not disappoint. One after another, we have found each wine special...its pretty much all we are keeping in our cellar.

The wines were pretty good. Their service wasnt great. After a few pours, we were essentially ignored, and practically had to flag someone down, after being ignored for quite a while, to get our next wine.

The wines are just great. They are also very different. The 2005 Syrah with the camphor fragrance and the incredibly tart Barbera are really adventure. The service is great.

One of Sonoma Countys hidden gems. Delicious wines served by knowledgeable and friendly tasting room crew. Very good wine and food pairing at the Reserve Room.
