Its a weird, funky park - an area of land that once accommodated the old track of Hwy 1 and then slid into the Pacific. Then it was a dump which is why local paraglider call it "The Dumps" and now its a park. On a day of favorable winds you can encounter a flock of paraglider pilots flying over head. Not to mention people walking dogs, fishermen on their way to the beach for a night of fishing, people flying RCs, drones and anything that will fly, or even just locals going for a stroll. Its an eclectic bunch that come to this park. Warnings: 1. If youre walking a dog be aware that there is a sizable coyote population in the park. Some days when the wind is right planes overhead will disturb them and you can hear them howling loudly. There are lots! There are also feral cats although fewer since the coyote population exploded. 2. There are sometimes break-ins in the parking lot. Although Pacifica is a sleepy town exercise normal cautions when leaving your car - leave no items on show. Nothing. Got it?

My wife and I visited the Mussel Rock area around midday during our Xmas 2016 break. The car park was located next to a good viewing area and the start of a walking trail. At the time the area was being visited by a handful of people; some couples were walking their dogs and one guy was operating a drone. Missing were the air sports people that the area is known for. We were surprised how few people were there given the natural beauty of the location. I found a well-trodden path down the side of the hill to take the photos I posted. The photos say the rest.

This address is for the playground! If you want to access the trail and are looking to park, head towards Allied Waste: 120 Westline Drive, Daly City, CA 94015, United States. Stay left at the fork that marks the entrance into Allied Waste, and down the road is where you find the car lot and hang gliding. And I dont see any major pothole issues. But, from what I saw if the playground, its cute, clean and uncrowded. Ill definitely come back to visit with the kids.

Great place. Been coming here for years. See if you can see coyote. You can sit in the brush and make rabbit calls too. Its great. Theres a hollow tunnel cave where waves splash through and its great fun and awe and theres a big waterwalled rock with some crazy wooden lattice done up by god knows who at god knows when its a mystery and youll love it. Come anytime its 24/7.

Beautiful views of the pacific ocean from the cliffs, watch the waves smash into the rocks off the coast. Its a great spot for watching tons of people paragliding too. They use the cliffs to take off, land and fly around the wind patterns. It is really a cool thing to see if you can catch them on a warm weekend!!

I live in Pacifica but walking distance to MR. A barren potentially deadly strip of beach. Seen fishmen pull some monsters from this location. 12-15lb Bass and salmon. The inaccessibility make this place a jewel in the rough. Good luck finding it!

Awesome cliffs, parc , real nature and a beach where i was the only person. Not huge, but nice for few hours. Reachable from road only from south(a bit easy climbing to come to the beach from the parc) or church. Did it with bus

One of the best natural parks around SF! Some people wrote here like the park is small... Not true at all. Its huge! And yes, almost no people, just you and magnificent nature! It also has interesting grotto cave

Hours of Operation Monday - Saturday: 8am - 5pm Heres how they operate. A guy kind of eyeballs your load of garbage and makes up a price. Sometimes cheap. Sometimes expensive.

Love the place, ever since the dump closed, it is No Longer open 24 hours a day and the police will harass you if your there outside of the sun up, sun down hours.

Somewhat disappointing considering this is the location of the 1906 SF Earthquake. Massive landslide area. County stupidly used park of the area as a dump.

I still shudder to remember everything that happened there. The epicenter of the quake in 1906 was very near Mussel Rock on the coast. No comment
