Great Livermore area winery that is more of a country winery! A few minutes from the Freeway but worlds away in the canyon. Super friendly people here.. We dropped by on a Saturday after trying another winery and being told of Chouinard Wine by some other tasters at the other winery in Livermore. The place is low-key, unassuming and did I say friendly? Oak trees, large tasting room, picnic tables. Shade and vineyard views. Caroline and Damian were the names of the Owner and her winemaker son. Their Malbec, Chardonnay, and Old Vine Zin are great wines that are quite well done! Prices are good. I bought a mixed case. Will return

This is the best little winery you have never heard of! The winery is tucked away on Palomeras Canyon Road in the most beautiful setting imaginable. All of the wines are excellent with a wide assortment of whites, reds and ports. They have free live music on at least one weekend a month as well as paid concerts and old black and white horror movies in the Fall (Bring a blanket). The owners George and Carol, granddaughter Amanda and their son and winemaker Damien are the nicest people you will ever meet. Do yourself a favor and come visit this winery, you will be glad you did. Shane and Melba Crisp

Chouinard, on Palomares Road behind the Hayward Hills in the San Francisco East Bay, offers a wide variety of mostly very tasty wines. Their unique offering is a Granny Smith Apple Wine that tastes far better than you would guess. Their Viognier is excellent -- wonderful nose and a taste that delivers (as so many Viogniers dont). The Zin and the Red Table Wine are fine. They also make an Alicante Bouchet that is quite drinkable. Take the drive up there, and also try to hit the Westover Vineyards about a quarter-mile south on the same road. Worth it!

The first time we went with a birthday party it was great. So we joined. Then when we came back the owners were there and treated us like we didnt even walk in the door. No smiles or hellos... like we were bothering them. Not to mention we tried to cancel several times and they still charged us and never sent anything. Then we had to fight with them to get a return of our money. I guess they choose who they like or not?? Dunno but we were happy to be there and came in with smiles only to be shunned! Weird

They have a wide variety of wine to taste. Free tastings with encouragement to try a bottle. The drive up there is beautiful and not very long but does give you the feel of escaping further than you are. Family owned and it still feels that way. Enjoyed the experience and will probably go back.

Ive been a fan for many years. The family and other employees are always so friendly and helpful. The wines are amazing! Their rosés won me over. I have the Granny Smith Apple wine every year for Thanksgiving. Thank you so much for your passion.

Love this place. The Wine Makers and their family are very friendly and the wines rate up against many of the Napa vineyards I have been too. I would highly recommend anybody to check them out. Cant go wrong with a $5 tasting fee...

Great wine and friendly folks in a beautiful setting. Theres also no cellular signal there, so its a great way to get away from everything. In the summer they have movie nights and on Saturdays there are frequently musicians.
