It was a quick walk from Solage where we stayed. This is why I like to try smaller places. They were attentive, fun and very very informative. I learned a lot but it wasnt in a lecture type format. I usually stay away from there desert wines but they had a port that I loved. It was 10 dollars but they waved the tasting fee if you bought a bottle and I knew that Port was coming home with me. They also told me that they have a harvest party event and we discussed gardening as well as wines. It felt like you were going to a friends house that knew a lot about wine. Comfortable and friendly. I love the decor and they have some tables out back. I would definitely visit again. There was a reserve Cab that almost went home with me too but I decided to control myself.

Very occasionally you find a winery that offers that perfect combination of casual wine country vibe and incredibly well-crafted wines. Lava Vine is one of those rare breeds. Friendly staff and frequent musical breaks in a fun-loving atmosphere makes for the kind of winery that reminds you that wine is supposed to be as FUN as it is delicious. But no, Lava Vine doesnt trade flavor for fun. They have both nailed. The wines are confident enough that the tasting room staff dont need to oversell their goods. The wines are uniformly great and they know it. No hard sell here. Love it! Well be back many times!

Excellent wines, loads of information, all served in jeans and a worn baseball cap from a Minneapolis native. Whats not to love. An owner and core winemakers passionate about making good wine no matter what it takes, then serving it up to is no matter who we are. Many thanks to the wanderers at B Cellars for sharing this gem.

The wine was awesome but the atmosphere was even better. You feel like youre walking into the bar from cheers when you walk into their tasting room. Really fun, lively guys working there. Mike was awesome. The wine was great too! Im not usually into rose but we ended up getting a bottle of white zin to drink by the pool.

Worth it just for the entertainment and awesome personal experience that you get from John and Adam. Wines are great, especially the port which they serve with chocolate, olive oil, and salt. Extremely small production so go there and stock up. Dont be surprised if you find yourself coming back here again and again.

This winery was recommended to us by another winery that we visited in Napa and I must say, what a really cool winery. It had a very "no nonsense" kind of appeal to it. Not flashy, just very simple in a really good way. The wine was also very good too. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Music and wine are awesome. They also have great deejaying and play shows every Sunday, and I go to most of them, just for john. Isnt it wacky how Pete plays the banjo??? I also think that the dessert and Sauvignon Blanc are amazing. I dont think that the wines Are overpriced.

I love the different feel of this winery. Tasting room is more like a craft brewery than winery which is a welcome change of pace from every other identical winery. The owner is super friendly and talked with us for a while. Even went back and got a thief of their port!

We walked in and John Jones said I was thinking of you (Barbara Nelson) from two years ago when she sat right down and joined in the impromptu playing and singing with John and the others behind the wine bar. Great wine and fun group at Lava Vine

A little hole on the wall winery. Very cool atmosphere, great service!! Just wish the bar area was a little bigger, but its clearly the feel they want. Wines were good....port wine served with chocolate, sea salt, and olive oil was the bomb!

By far my favorite experience in napa yet! Walked in to two dudes singing and playing guitar while pouring delicious wines. The wine is quite yummy and the tasting room is super cozy!

We liked the atmosphere and the people there but found the wine to be significantly over priced. I have had better for a lot less money.

Wines were good- if you are into Sirah blends. However, they buy their grapes and are not a vineyard. The tasting room was mediocre.

The staff made the experience here. Wine and the space were unremarkable, but it was probably our favourite tasting experience!

Good wine. Loved the Grenache and the Pinot Noir!!! The Grenache had a hint of citrus. Enjoy. :-)
