Nestled in a canyon in Belmont off a fire road, the lake is a great local spot for kids to interact with fauna and hikers and cyclists to navigate the dense network of trails. The fire road has a nice slope for running and holding pace. Some of the single track trails are steeper and more severe. I often see small groups on mountain bikes. Dogs are allowed on the trail and the fire road is very popular for families with dogs. There are usually bags available at the trailheads at the top and bottom of the fire road trail. There are also usually small lizards and the occasional snake along the fire road. The lake has been full of frogs the last few years which can be a fun for kids to try to catch. The trails are generally clean but there is minimal signage once away from the lake or trailheads so study the map or bring a phone because its surprisingly easy to get turned around and end up in the Carlmont drive canyon. Overall, I consider WDL a local treasure for Belmont and a great, quick, and easy escape from the suburban jungle of the 101 corridor to a safe natural setting.

The trails are wide to accommodate runners, bikers, dog walkers, etc. The scenery is nice and the lake is cool to look at even though the water is gross. I wish they would keep the water level higher because it looks so much prettier than the pond they leave it as. The trail system that connects to hidden canyon is a fun, scenic run.

Fun place to ride within the confines of Belmont, CA. Trails interlock within itself so there is a load of possibilities. Really wont get lost in here and the views from the top on a day after it rains, you can see a very long way... One of my favorite places to mountain bike if I dont want to travel a long distance.

I was so happy to bring my dogs here today but I never got there!!! The directions are wrong! Can you change the directions so the next time I want to come I actually get there this time?? The place looks pretty in pictures but Id love to see it in person.

Great mountain biking. Not overly technical but you can work as hard as you want and its located right in town. The park is on the small size for mountain biking but there are a few loops so you can make the ride as long as you want.

Great trails for a local hike, but not the views you would get on Skyline trails - Purisima, Castle Rock- or the open views of Edgewood, The Dish, or Oil has Ridge.

Great place to hike or Mtn bike...lots of options, lots of different terrain. Some decent maps that will help you out are posted at various points/entrances...

Nice natural trail, moderate climb, good dog trail. Please clean up after your pet & keep them on leash. Not everyone loves our 4 legged friends.
