Let me start by saying that many, many wineries in this area allow dogs. The owner of this business should go to the Yelp reviews for Kelsey Winery and see what good service looks like for dog owners and non-dog owners. If I could give this zero stars, I would. I arrived at this winery on Labor Day weekend and I was with my dog, a Dalmatian. I went inside because another man was sitting at the bar with his 5 pound dog. An employee walked over and asked me to sit outside (it was about 98 degrees). When I said there was another customer with a a dog inside, she said: "Its a service animal." I said, "No its not, it doesnt have a vest." (Never mind that Ive yet to see a service animal that is 5 pounds.) To this, the woman said, "I saw the paperwork." I said, "No you didnt, that is not a service animal." She then said, "Well, hes a member." I said, "What if I want to become a member?" Needless to say, they kicked me out. As I left, another person who was leaving the winery told me, "That dog is not a service animal, that man just comes here a lot. I wouldnt give them your money either." So the fact that they would 1. Lie to me 2. Discriminate against me because my dog was larger 3. Treat me in a rude and disrespectful manner 4. Treat some customers with favoritism while treating others like crap was too much to put up with. I could see if they dont want dogs inside, then it should be for EVERYONE. Dont friggin lie to me like that. FYI, I DO have a therapy certificate that I can fly with my dog. Its different from a SERVICE animal which you frequently see as dogs with a yellow vest helping the blind and disabled. Afterward, I called the owner to inform her that I would post a negative review and instead of apologizing, she hung up on me. Great customer relations!

Lets face it, theres not much to do in Avila Beach on a rainy afternoon. So my husband and I were really happy to dash into Morovino to escape a downpour. First, Morovino is beautiful. It is also an art gallery with all local artists. Second, the owners were behind the bar pouring their wines - evidently they always are. And boy do they love to talk about wine. But they totally arent preachy about it - nice, down-to-earth information. In fact, the two of them are really fun and funny. Third, the wines were really, really good. I particularly liked the Pinot Grigio (always my favorite) which has won lots of awards. My husband liked the Tango which is a nice, bold red. And we both loved the chocolate dessert wine Mezanoche. Morovino will become a part of all our trips to Avila Beach - rain or shine.

Our Californian friends have introduced us to Avila Beach. We stopped by that winery and enjoyed great food and drinks. Friendly staff. Still worried about the near of Devil Canyon nuclear power station...

Always friendly, and great wines. Ask about their mulled wine, in the winter.

Great wine! I can see why they won all the gold medals. Cool place to taste.
