This movie theater sucks big time. Everyone in Searcy knows that not only does the theater have a bad reputation, but so does the management. Here are just a few of the endless reasons why the Searcy Cinema 8 is the worst movie theater in existence. 1) People who work there are rude. 2) All tickets are non-refundable under any circumstance. 3) The movies times on the website will change without notice and completely ruin your plans. ^This one pissed me off and Ive heard several other people complain about this very thing. 4) The theater is filthy. 5) The audio quality sucks. 6) The bathrooms are disgusting. 7) The theater refuses to accept debit cards and instead has an ATM that charges $2.50 for withdrawing ANY AMOUNT. Ridiculous. What an unfair, swindling way to treat customers. *UPDATE: 1/13/15 Now the Searcy Cinema 8 has come up with a new way of swindling money from customers. They now accept Credit/Debit cards BUT there is a minimum charge of $10 required to use your card...The movie ticket costs $9.50... what a joke. So basically you will be forced to either A) purchased ridiculously priced concessions or B) use the ATM for a fee of $2.50... Also, if the movie freezes halfway through and takes them 20 minutes to restart, dont expect a refund...

How can you describe something so terrible that "awful" only hints at its deplorability? It is small, over-priced and filthy. After sitting in the seats, I feel a need to burn my clothes (washing is no guarantee). Even worse are the mind-bogglingly rude people who run the place. Choosing to misremember the bacteriological nightmare this place is, I went back some months later. After buying 3 full-priced tickets and about $30 worth of drinks and popcorn, I asked for a water cup and they refused. A-ma-zing. I kept the "food" and asked for my money back on the tickets. Again, they refused. Police officer/ticket taker was called over, presumably to intimidate me. After some negotiations, I recovered at least my ticket money. Abandon hope, all ye who enter here.

We went to watch a movie thats only been playing at this theatre for two days...they chose to play it in the smallest room in the whole place. The floors were filthy, the screen was small and falling apart at the top, the surround sound was not working and the bathrooms were disgusting! Papertowels were overflowing the trashcans and were everywhere. Obviously they hadnt been cleaned all day...not to mention the smell in there was unbearable! The owner charges the same rate that the nice theaters like Rave charge but the experience is worse than a dollar theatre. If another theatre would come to Searcy I have no doubt this place would go out of business. As of now he will surely do nothing to improve it because he knows people go there for convenience reasons only.

If there was any way of picking a half star, I so would. My experience was horrible, and to top it off it was Christmas and my brothers in law birthday. People are Just rude and disrespectful. I argued with the cashier, she failed to give back change (dollars). Tickets are non refundable which is just dumb. My sister, brother and law, two nephews And myself are seriously unsatisfied. This location seriously needs to be closed down. We all recently moved from Arizona to Searcy, and we all loved it. Everybody was literally so kind and nice, but that theater experience kind of ruined it. I highly don't recommend this theater to anyone. Unless you like to have your day ruined.

This theater is quite horrible. They have remodeled only some of the theater rooms, meaning if your movie isnt showing in one of the now "newly remodeled" MEDIOCRE theater rooms then you are stuck sitting in broken, sticky, smelly chairs where the sound and video quality is horrible. As I mentioned, some theater rooms have been "remodeled", meaning they have new seats. They havent fixed the broken A/C or heat. (Its always too hot or too cold. Never a comfortable temperature.) The bathrooms are dirty. And on and on. It costs so much money to see a movie that if you are going to shell out that kind of money, drive to Little Rock so that you at the very least, get your moneys worth.

There is one large screen with stadium seating which is really nice. There are three smaller screens with stadium seating which are decent. The other screens are very small with a traditional seating arrangement; the seats lean forward because they were built for flat surfaces but are mounted on a slope. Since you pay the same $ for all the screens, its best to see movies that have just been released since they are more likely to be on the large screen. The cinema offers summer movies for kids for $2 which is nice. Bring cash! You cannot use credit cards! If you forget, you can use their ATM which will charge you a hefty fee. Nice money-maker for the theater.

Checked the theater website and found the movie that we wanted to see and the schedule of times. We then drove from Heber Springs to the theater. When we got to the theater we were told that the movies were not scheduled to be shown at the time stated on the website. The woman at the ticket counter argued with me and another person that she had looked on her computer this morning and it was not stated that the show was supposed be shown at the time we said it was. When I got home I checked to see if I had made a mistake ---- no , the times were not corrected and it caused me to drive 50 miles and see no movie!

Worst theater Ive ever been to. You can almost guarantee there will be a problem with the audio, video or both. Movies always start later than advertised. Tickets are $9.50 which is way too high considering what youre getting, but on top of that you can only pay with cash unless your purchase is $10. So if you want a single ticket youll either have to use cash or purchase an overpriced concession and bump it up to $13+ to pay with debit. Biggest scam Ive ever seen. This theater is a complete sham. Only reason it gets any business whatsoever is because its the only theater in a radius of about 30 miles.

You know, I can handle the fact that the theater is dirty, the popcorn is stale, and the soft drinks are flat but what really galls me is the policy of not accepting credit or debit cards and then having the audacity to charge $2.50 per transaction for the use of the lobby ATM machine. I can understand the Rialto not accepting credit/debit cards because of their $1 admission model but there is no reason at $9.50 per ticket that this place cannot afford to process cards. Its a scheme pure and simple. I wonder what percentage of each $2.50 fee that the owner gets to keep.

What the other reviewers have said is accurate; no plastic payments and the ATM fee is akin to theft, ticket prices are too. My daughter worked there for a little while and told me that the owners/management were very rude and hateful to the customers and staff alike. Im going to go back tonight only because I dont want to drive to Little Rock and this is the only theater in town that shows the new release movies. This place needs local competition for sure which the poor little Rialto just cant do.

I do not even want to give this theatre 1 star! This theatre is never clean, never kept up very well, needs to be remodeled, and has terrible sound quality. The last time I was there, the speakers were cutting in and out throughout most of the movie...and it was a brand new showing! The only reason I go to this theatre is because I live in Searcy and because of Tuesday night specials... for weekend movies, I definitely visit the Little Rock theatres where I get quality for the price I am paying.
