The owner, Greg, and his wife, Kelly, are some of the most mean, grouchy, rude, unkind people Ive met in a while! My 11 year old son and I live nearby, in the neighborhood, and enjoy going to socialize, listen and dance to the live music. The bartender, Barry, had always made us feel welcome, especially my 11 year old. He would wave to us when we were out and about the town, running errands. And during the day, before the court even opened, he would be preparing and we would walk by and say hi. It felt like a place that you could call your neighborhood hangout and my son loved going and getting a root beer at the bar and watching Barry do neat tricks with the empty bottle. Anyways, we liked coming at night, as i said, to socialize, listen to music, and dance. My 11 year old son, being very sociable, loved dancing with all the grandmas and meeting people. Then, Greg and Kelly started treating my son like he was a pest and told him and I to stay in the back. Which there was no reason for that, because NOT ONCE did anybody complain but instead raved about how polite, mature, and kind my son was!!! Many times people offered to buy him a soda or food and of course, hes not gonna turn that down. Hes your typical kid. But then, the owner, Kelly, accuses him of panhandling and begging!!!! And she literally yelled at my child, A CHILD, in the corner of the parking lot!!!!! She treated him like a criminal and said he was running some sort of a scam and could see right through his act!!!! All I can say is "WOW!!!" Very unprofessional and not ok. She traumatized my child and he cried all the way home!!!

We always go to see our favorites, Nick McBlaine and the Log Train (first Wed) The Tucsonics (third Tues) The Ronstadt Generations (every Sun) And, we know people always show up and get up there with the band to play a few tunes. We never know who it will be. Name any musician in Tucson and they might be there on any given night. So we keep our minds open, see who shows up, and have never been disappointed. The food is pretty good, really good hamburgers, seafood entrees, salads grande, and desserts. Im not going to say a word about them. (Ive been known to have dessert for my whole meal.) There is something on the menu for every kind of (even picky) food preference. I am especially proud of the servers. They work hard, really hard, to keep you happy. Its busy, crowded, people are hungry, and even when theyre swamped and need a few more hands, theyre happy to serve us and they do the very best they can. I would never complain, I can clearly see how much they want us to be happy and satisfied. They are trying, just be patient. Its always worth the wait if and when there is one. We love the place and weve made so many friends there. "Were all in this together" is an appropriate phrase at the Monterey Court. Ive never encountered a sourpuss among the crowd. Now, what could be better? Well see you there.

You have to visit Monterey Court and Café!!!! My experience during this visit was a total 5. I went during the week when a great folks/American Ballad Band, Wanderlust played. The place should have been way more full. The atmosphere was great. The bartender, I think her name was Krisitie had the entire front of the house to take care of and she did an excellent job. I had the special - blackened Sea Bass Sandwich with caper remloude and sweet potato fries which was fantastic - all for $10. This was only the third time I had been here and the only time in the evening. The service was timely, friendly and informative on the offerings. The carrot cake is just an incredible killer of a desert with authentic cream cheese frosting !Be ready to share with a friend. Its great being able to sit out under the stars - eat good food - listen to good music and I hope more people in Tucson support this place. It is such a great concept- art - music - food....with the music free and the food incredibly reasonable.

My first time here, what a gem! Giant Blue was playing on a Friday night and the music was great! I had the Flamingo Burger and my friend had the Fish Tacos - we shared our meals and both dishes were delicious! The burger was moist and cooked to perfection. The fish tacos were grilled and very tasty. We also had the cup of soup (which to our surprise was a watermelon/tomato gazpacho), topped with a little bit of cream cheese. It was so good and refreshing! After quite a meal, we werent sure if we had room for dessert, but when our waitress Brisa suggested the dessert du jour (warmed berries with liqueur and vanilla ice cream) we all of a sudden had room - again, delicious! I will definitely go back to try other dishes. And Kudos to the chef! Minus: A menu on your website would be nice...

We had to find our own table, appetizers were served at the same time as the main course, food was mediocre at best, soup not edible, when we complaint to the owner, his response was that he thought the soup was quite nice, the soup was broke and had no flavor or texture. Crostinis cant be made to order.. the texture of the crostini was like something the ducks at the pond might refuse... and the sweet potato fries were cold.. Tucson has so many fun restaurants with excellent food.. this is my last night of my vacation and what made this whole experience really disturbing was the absolutely arrogant demeanor of the owner..

This rest was recommended to me by the owners of the near by Mexican Pottery Showroom on MMile and Oracle, I went with a couple other friends for lunch on Saturday. I had the Maji Sandwhich, and my friends had a burger and the fish tacos. Everything was deliciouse. The services was a bit slow but the server explained that everthing is made fresh on the premises. He also made up for the wait with friendlyness and humor. The heat did not let us enjoy the courtyard or the shops but I will definetly be back for both as well as for the live bands.

Food service needs improvement. 1st time I waited an hour for sweet potato fries..so okay, that was a busy night. 2d visit I ordered an eggplant sandwich. Dont they know eggplant has to be cooked first?!! Warming it is not sufficient! Bitter, uncooked eggplant is not edible. I sent it back. I will not attend this venue when hungry again. Incidentally, meetup organizers urge members to order food so the venue makes money. I suggest they use the power of this group patronage to demand that chefs learn how to cook.

Annoying out of date music, no places to park except the ghetto street and the owners think they are better than everyone. The clientele are generally middle age to older crowd who are trying to basically conform to the hipster lifestyle and fail miserably. I would be annoyed if I had to live close to the Court for the music being so loud late into the night. Maybe take the schtick back to Sun City or even far North Oro Valley, thats where this place might be "hip"

Recommended anyone who wants to experience a true piece of American roadside history. Monterrey Court is a historic 1940s era motor hotel turned into multiple artist galleries with live music every night and great food. My best friend was once an employee here and knows the manager personally and he seems like a very nice down to earth guy.
