Unbelievable!!! Bad that is. We had a reservation for brunch at high noon on Sunday. There were three of us and it was on of those Arizona days people from around the world dream about. The setting on the Hugh open patio was breathtaking. Things started off well as we were seated immediately and asked what we would like to drink. All seemed well. Now come the nightmare. After waiting for about 20 minutes we were served our drinks. A coffee, and two Bloody Marys only one was asked to be made from scratch because of an allergy to spicy food and drink. All was fine except for the (SPECIAL ORDER) of tomato juice, vodka and garnish. It got sent back and when the second one came it was just as bad so I asked for a can of tomato juice, shot of vodka and the glass with garnish. That took another 20 minutes. We then ordered our breakfast off the menus. Nothing special. After waiting 30 minutes we asked how Hong it would be and told it would be up soon. After waiting anothern25 minutes and watching other customers that arrived after us already eating we asked to see the manager. After another 10 minutes she unapologetically told us she would personally check on it. It arrived 5 minutes later. What a disappointment. The eggs were cold and the other order of Benedict with crab had a discussing looking tablespoon of shredded canned crab in the middle of the plate surrounded by over deep fried potato wedges and a quartered tomato. We again asked to see the manager and told her we were leaving and she reluctantly said we didnt have to pay the bill, not that we would have. All in all we waited 2 1/2 hours without food. At that time we of coarse could not find another restaurant still serving brunch and ended up at the Intercontinental for a late lunch. We have been going to El Chorro for 35 years but since the Millers sold it years ago it has really gone down hill in customer service. So if you have the entire afternoon to kill and dont mind overpriced poorly prepared food the ambiance is stunning. I met my beautiful wife there 30 years ago but I guess its true that all good things must come to an end. Not my wife but our memories of fun times past. Goodbye El Chorro.

When yet set your restaurant in Paradise Valley at a landmark you should be the best or at least attempt it. We dined there last night and at my wifes encourage we decided we would celebrate my 50th birthday along with my aunts 88th. My aunt and uncle were already seated so we joined them on the patio. No host greeted us since none were posted. We did catch the 4 valet parking attendants and the wonderful fuel effieceint parking spaces though on the way in. Here is what a restaurant should be. Good service and great food. Our server shows up at the table with ink pen stained khaki apron. Youre telling me nobody on the entire management team spotted that??? Service was good other than the personal appearance. The food on the other hand was just ok. Ice coated olives and veggies. So So. Dirty silverware in the rollups. The prime rib was tough(and that can happen anywhere) and poorly seasoned. The potato au gratin was tiny and boring. I didnt even bother to try the creamed spinach. The crab cake reeked. It was so bad that it actually attracted flies! Did I mention that my wifes entree finally arrived after all of meals were completely eaten. With an apology though so that made it alright? The pork t-bone should have been the first item cooked, then the crab cakes and last the primerib sliced and plated? Did I mention I know this business and I know when mistakes happen and I know when the management is untrained and inexperienced or just dont get it? Not one manager or the walkie talkie carry bunch bothered to stop by and see how our meal was. Tells me where their priorities are? And that host that never greeted us on the way in? They werent there on the way out either. Thanks for a memory I dont want to cherish. You wonder how some places survive and other dont? The answer here is tourist and former reputation is my guess. It sure isnt the food or service.

Ive had groups of 25 - 50 at El Charro many times and ate their personally many times as well. The atmosphere is great and that is what you are paying for. The General Manager there does not value the customer. Think about it when you are paying for groups that large on over 10 occasions and he doesnt care to get to know anyone or thank you for the business. Last time in we had 3 no shows in a group of 50 and he wasnt interested in giving us any break on that whatsoever. Let me tell you, he didnt lose 300 dollars, he lost the loyalty and repeat business of a large group and company. He was arrogant, brash and pretty insecure to be running a high end restaurant like that. The sprinklers were on in back where we were hanging out and he wouldnt even turn them off? We have people getting wet and he is just standing around with a smirk. I asked to speak to the owners and he said he would pass on the message. I doubt seriously that he did. Great location, good food, very expensive, and horribly run. Wont be back.

Beautiful Setting, Perfect Service, OK Food Big time points for the setting and the service here. You can relax here either indoors or outdoors and feel calm, relaxed and pampered. The staff is exceptional and service is simply what they do. If you go a couple of times they remember you, what you eat, what you drink, and where you like to sit. I love to go there for brunch on Sundays, and am comfortable going there alone. They work very hard at preparing your food exactly the way you want it - and they should - because it is pretty pricey - but you are paying to be in that lovely setting eating it. I have nothing else good to say about the food, except for the sticky buns. They come with anything that you order, and they are delicious. Go for the setting, enjoy the sticky buns and the excellent service, and dont give much thought to whatever else you are eating

A pleasant evening in a relaxing atmosphere. We visited during restaurant week. My wife and I both considered the tasting menu but in the end ordered from the regular menu. We shared the Tomato and Buratta Salad to start which was outstanding. The restaurant served us on separate plates with a generous portion. For our main course she had the Fire Roasted Tequila Shrimp which were good and I had the Niman Ranch Pork Tenderloin which was an interesting sweet savory dish. Of the two I think I enjoyed her shrimp more. We shared the Brownie Sunday while not the most original creation was delicious. The service was good, the drinks were good and the meal outside was very pleasant. Im not sure if wed come back as a couple just due to the drive but it is a place that wed consider entertaining clients at in the future.
