I have played Longbow Golf Club a few times. Always enjoyed my rounds. Longbow is a *tough* golf course to play for any skill level in this already wonderfully frustrating game. The views are great. The small aircraft landing low at Falcon Field AND the Boeing Apache helicopters going on test-runs all on the front 9 is also a nice touch. I was told by another golfer who has played Longbow frequently that the golf course was converted from an old archery range...hence the name I suppose. However, you do have to be dead-on with your golf clubs as well as the golf course doesnt let up. The fairways narrow in spots. The greens small and fast. You can play this golf course as target-golf OR links-style. I have heard murmurings about the lack of sand in bunkers, but that is what they are going for and if you know how to work the thin sand...there should not be any complaints. It is good sand, but just different than an fancy-resort conditioned golf course white sand. Longbow has a great layout that is enjoyable and always in great shape. A must-play in your golfing day... so to speak.

Longbow is a more interesting and more challenging course than most private clubs that I have played. From the pro tees or back tees, only a reasonably long hitter can reach most greens in regulation with short irons. Most of the greens are well trapped but large, and certain pin positions can be diabolical. From the white tees the average senior golfer with fading skills and power can still have a very pleasant experience. The course looks flat, but few lies are flat. Condition is usually good. Cost is not cheap, but discount rates are available by purchasing a Flight Card at Longbow. The clubhouse, although small, has a nice ambience, particularly the open-air porch. The food is good, and the staff is invariably polite. My only caveat is that Longbow is attracting increasingly more college and low level pro tournaments.

I believe it was last year the Ladys Gateway to the LPGA was held at this course and for volunteering to work two shifts, you get a free round of golf. I worked 4 shifts as a starter/announcer on the first tee. I finished my times, received a certificate for a free round of golf. The only problem was that I couldnt use the round until AFTER April 1st. My vacation was completed and I had to return home March 30th, asked if I could play my round of golf the last couple weeks in March and the answer was "NO!" Im certain it would have cost the course a great deal of lost revenue to allow me the privilege of playing golf early. Oh well, I learned my lesson---didnt I?

On March 24th my wife and I and another couple had an experience at Longbow that was pretty bad. Our round on this beautiful course took nearly six hours. I was very unhappy and I emailed the general manager of the course. The GM responded almost immediately. He said that was highly unusual, that most rounds there took 4-4 & 1/2 hours. He said would get to the bottom of the situation, and invited our group back to play a complimentary round. We completed our comp. round today in 4 hours and 5 minutes. The GM was as good as his word, The course is beautiful and I highly recommend playing there. Paul Nelson

Dont be fooled by the "best greens in Phoenix" hype. The greens are fine and the layout has some interesting holes, however, the greenside bunkers are the absolute worst in Phoenix. There is no sand in them. Instead it is hard-packed, crusty dirt with bunches of pebbles and small rocks. It also took our 4some more than 5 hours to complete the afternoon round. There is no water on the course so you either bring your own or youre at the mercy of the cart person to buy water (or another beverage if you prefer). IMHO, if you play this course, do not pay full fare but buy a special rate or a twilight rate.

Longbow Golf Club is a decent track but outside of their summertime specials I find it incredibly overpriced when compared to the plethora of other quality golf courses in the Valley to choose from. Architecture of the Clubhouse and the unique on course "awnings" make playing a round there well worthwhile. Challenging golf course, fast greens, a real test of your skills but without a coupon/special/or deal its usually not worth the green fees they charge....especially when there are so many other quality courses within a 30 minute drive.

I walked this course and had a blast. Longbow is a very well maintained course that is easy to access, has great views, an awesome clubhouse, and has hands down the highest quality rental equipment I have ever used. I personally found the planes and the helicopters fascinating and entertaining. The "flying awnings" located at the clubhouse and around the course add a very unique artistic touch to the decor, too.

This is now my favorite course. My experience was nothing but exceptional. The layout is great and it does give you a bit of a challenge without being impossible. The staff was nothing but friendly , fast, efficient , and professional. Great customer service and follow through. By the way the Food was Amazing and the service in the restaurant area was top notch.

Great golf course with an extremely professional staff. The course was very busy as usual with pristine conditions and had perfect greens. With all of the big events that are played here I am not surprised that the place was full. I will definitely be back to beat my score from last time now that I know some local knowledge. Cant wait.

I didnt even need to step on the grounds to know how horrible the customer service is. I called to get info on memberships, the girl that answered the phone didnt know anything and instead of grabbing somebody that did know the info she just hung up on me. That is unacceptable.

Had my best game here. Make sure to take spare balls as its a desert course and they go missing if you are beginner/intermediate player. If you like planes they have some neat ones fly overhead but can be a bit distracting as theyre quite low on occasion.

Nice course but so challenging that you better be on your game or you wont have much fun. Also, not a drop of water to be found, except the beverage cart. $14 for 2 small Gatorades and 1 beer. Just a little steep is all Im saying.

Long waits. Long day. Expect long waits to even get on first hole. Horrible time management for players. If you like a four hour round go somewhere else. If you want to be stuck out there all day, then its your place.

The course was in great condition, but the aircraft taking off from the small airport next to the course, which flew right over head (about 200 ft above or better) was very distracting. Sorry, but once is enough.

Very poorly run golf course. It took over 5+ hours to play, with the ranger going home at 3. Will never play there again and would not tell anybody to play this poorly run course!!!!!

Well maintained course, fast greens! Approach shots are crucial, of course when arent they? When we were done we had a beer and lunch outside, very nice.
