This review pertains to the new acquisition of Carmike Cinemas to AMC Theatres. Where do I start? We drove one hour to this theater as it is our favorite theater around. We waste time until 7:30 so we can see Batman legos. We go in and they tell us, oh that does not come on until 9:30. I said well the internet says 7:30, and they said sorry, the times are not right as this is no longer Carmike Cinemas, it is AMC theaters. Ok no biggie, we wasted two more hours. We go back in at 9:30 and buu two tickets to legos batman. I believe a G or PG rates movie. Little kids are in you if you know what I mean. The advertisements were not something you would expect to see for a kids movie. For instance, one called Girls night out and it was talking about sticking things up their booty holes, no joke. I saw some kids and parents up front get offended by thr language. The other movie was about a woman killing her ex husband, and the 3rd included some bay watch movie with the rock and zac efron shoeing profanity. I thought these were strang advertisements for a legos movie, until.... The show started and there is a black guy walking saying f**k this and f**k that about 5 times. I knew from there that we were not watching batman even though the ticket and theater were for Batman. I sit for a minute and then I am the first to leave. I knee something was wrong. I go out and following behind me are a mob of angry parents demanding to know why the f word was repeated over and over again for a kids movie. The guy, a young guy, kept telling us there is nothing he could do because he has to gaurd his post to keep people from coming through. So we wait until a manager shows up and he apologizes and just gives us free tickets for next time... I understand mistakes happen, but these kids could have been exposed to sex or nudity. Thats really unacceptable for such a large theater. We will use the tickets in the future, but we will think twice before we go here again. -A Former Carmike Cinemas Fan

Dirty, smells bad, obviously not cared for or kept up. Food and tickets are way too expensive (no free refills? even McDs lets you do that :P) and you dont even buy your tickets at the designated place out front - you go to the concession stand and wait on every hamplanet in the Shoals area to get their $30 small popcorn/drink combo for tickets. It is very, very apparent that the owners know this is pretty much the only theater until Huntsville, and Im disappointed. Only redeeming thing (which really doesnt give much favor points considering all the other ones dropped yall into the negatives) is that if you go before a certain time on a certain day, their tickets are priced like they should be at around $5 a piece. Edit: Also! There have been plenty of times where I went to see a movie here with family and it seemed like someone forgot to start the movie. Waited over an hour in those uncomfortable and nasty seats to see a damn replay of Star Wars, ended up watching 1.5 hours of ads.

Me and my friend saw a movie on a Friday night at 9:55 pm. Tickets were $14 a piece. We got 2 small icees (which were gross bc they werent the normal flavors), and one small popcorn. Our total was $49!!! The people were rude that were working, the seats were SO uncomfortable to the point to where it was almost unbearable to sit there for 2 hours. Theyve supposedly remodeled but the old seats werent even as bad as the "new" ones. I honestly dont see how people in the shoals area are affording this place for those prices. I thought I would give it a chance and go during the day when its a bit cheaper. Tried to find a show time and they are all very inconvenient on top of that they are $10 per ticket during the day. We are driving to Huntsville from now on when we just have to see something new.

Maybe you guys havent been recently but I go almost every weekend with my friends and have an awesome time. yes some of the workers could be more polite but other than that I love the theater over all big comfy seats lots of space. And as for the "smells you guys experience Ive never had a problem with that. Maybe some rude kids in the movie sometimes makes it harder to enjoy but come on guys you know how this generation is, plus there kids there just enjoying freedom. you guys are going overboard the movie ticket isnt that expensive you guys are cheap the popcorn on the other hand is like 30$ a bucket that why you bring your own snacks in your purse lol jk

Has always been a pretty good experience until today (July 16, 2016). They have changed up everything from where you pay for tickets, to how you pay for and get food and snacks. I was running all over the lobby just trying to get popcorn and drink. Its all in the attempt to save on labor by making the customer do all the work. Im sorry, but when I pay $20 for some popcorn and a drink, I dont expect to be treated like some product on an assembly line and I sure dont want to be serving myself. I will give it one more chance and if they dont change it back, I wont be back. I can watch movies elsewhere.

We ended up spending over $40 on 4 tickets.. Prices are understandable. We then spent almost $30 on a medium popcorn, 2 drinks and a bag of candy...again prices are understandable. What really pissed me off was the fact we spent $70 at this theater, asked for another bag for our popcorn since our kids ripped the bag and they COULDNT give us one for whatever reason they had, that all they could give us was a small, paper cone to drink out of. Accidents happen, you guys should be more understanding considering ppl spend their hard earned money at your establishment. Its just a PAPER BAG.

It is the best movie theater in town and the Shoals is lucky to have it. The prices are cheaper here than at many other theaters in the nation. Its frustrating sometimes because they dont have a particular movie playing and one will have to drive to Huntsville to see it, but thats due to the limited number of screens and has more to do with demographics than the theater- not enough people to support more screens. Those complaining about this theater apparently are not old enough to remember our options in the Shoals prior to the Regency 12 opening. Be blessed for what we do have.

When they remodeled the theater they put in new seats that are so uncomfortable Im gonna start going to the movie theater in Decatur from now on. The seats they had before were very comfortable and the arm rests would lift up making easier to get in the seat and comfortable enough to to sit for 2 hours. The seats in the middle row have arm rests that fold back but that doesnt help I sat there watching Power Rangers with a piece of metal poking me in the back. I guess they put these new seats in because theyre cheaper. Well Decatur is not that far away............
