This past week my husband and I attended two programs at the Kimball Theatre: 1. The Walking Statue: while amusing and in keeping with the period, there was a part of the play that ridiculed a Jew..more that one and in an extremely tasteless fashion. I am not Jewish but have Jews in my family and some are in Israel where I worry about them each and every day. The offense of this part of the play almost caused me to walk out. How dare Kimball Theatre allow such anti-Semitic positions taking on the stage. Offended is not the word....I am so angry. Not only was the play a ridiculous pile of worthless presentation, it was offensive. 2. Music to Remember ("A Christmas Concert for Williamsburg") - the beginning was quite tolerable given you listened to nothing but a jazz interpretation of the Carols. BUT THEN THE ENSEMBLE decided to make up for songs not played during the MAY (???????????) concert. Their liberties were selfish and rude. Then the daughter of the main singer came out to sing with her mother - who gives a doggone who or what she was and why did WE have to listen to songs that had NOTHING to do with Christmas. There is only one word to express the feelings of my husband and I and that is "angry". Even the keyboard player joked "and you thought this was a Christmas Concert!). Enough was enough....the concert was never meant to be for the audience but rather their means by which to perform in the selfish fashion they preferred. At intermission...we walked out as did many people. Shame on Kimball Theatre. I have been coming to the theatre for numerous years but two horrible performances in one week closed my door to ever coming back. THINK before you allow a performance to be shown....remember people PAY for these follies. Keep your mouths shut to anti-Semitic parts of life, be true to your audience and give them what they are hoping to hear. I always considered Kimball Theatre quite a fine theatre presenting well performed plays, concerts, etc. But after this week...that all makes me reconsider. Lord knows, even a high school could present better performances.

My wife and I attended the premiere of season 4 Turn at the Kimble theater last Thursday. Even though the show was advertised to be a 1.5 hour it last only 45 minutes -- basically only the first half of the premiere was shown. Also there were no announcements before or after the showing indicating that only the first half was going to shown. This was very disappointing -- I feel that we were all ripped off.

A one-of-a-kind theatre experience ... priceless and rare. I hope Williamsburg can find a way to keep this charming treasure open!

Nice for a small theatre venue. Lobby is very small for the amount of seats.
