I had a very unpleasant experience at the Kingsport Aquatic Center this evening.... Let me state, that we have never had an issue until today... For starters, I had no idea vaporizing my electronic cigarette was not allowed on the property. I understand there is a "No Smoking" sign, but the two did not click. Regardless, I am very sorry for not understanding the rules. One of your lifeguards, Sophia, VERY rudely came up to me, my friend, and my 18-month-old and told me to not do that on the property.... I totally understand why she told me no, since the sign clearly states no smoking is allowed.... But Sophia did not ask me in a nice way by any means! She basically yelled at me, and disrespected me. If she would have asked me nicely, and professionally I would have totally understood! I told one of the other life guards, and hopefully they confronted Sophia about being so rude to a customer that had no idea about the rules! But, that is not the rest! After we were all ready to leave, we were walking through the parking lot, and came across a man.... This man was in his Audi Convertible with his top down doing VERY inappropriate things to himself.... Im sure I dont have to go into detail.... He was starting at women and children.... My friend called the police and we had it reported.... In Conclusion, you have a very nice facility, but you have a few kinks to work out! While your lifeguard is yelling at me over "vaporizing", you have perverts in your parking lot doing God knows what!!!!! I am very displeased with my experience today and hope you guys can work something out!!!! Beware to anyone that goes to the Kingsport Aquatic Center!!!!! Sincerely, Olivia Lafosse

Some people have described the Aquatics Center as having unruly guests, and hardheaded lifeguards. As far as guests go, there is no way to filter what kind of people will be paying to go into the pool, nor is discrimination of any kind allowed. In my experience, the lifeguards have been very friendly to all the patrons. The most common reason that a lifeguard has to take actions to save a guests life is because the guest was not following proper safety rules, and often these guests are young children, hence all the rules crafted to that age group. In the case of the slides, there are actually no lifeguards sitting up at the top of the slides. The employees that do sit above the slides are call Aquatic Attendants, and they do not have any Red cross certified lifeguard training. There have been instances where a child that was previously allowed to go onto the slide is no longer allowed to go down the exact same slide under supervision of a different aquatic attendant. I can assure you that this is only for safety. Some aquatic attendant dont enforce the rules very heavily, where as others do. If all children that were close to the minimum height were allowed to go, then before to long all the children within a few inches of the children that were only an inch or two under the minimum height would be allowed to go, until the point that the height limit would utterly be abolished or completely unenforced. Overall, the Aquatics Center is a great place to take the family, with a great facility and just a great employees. Just remember two very important things: NO RUNNING, and NO WALKING ON THE MULCH

Good points--its got nice pools and other facilities, its clean, and of course everything is fairly new. Bad points: 1) No outdoor pool. Especially for the kids and those who just want to splash around in the water and not really swim. The lazy river is not a substitute. 2) More proactive policing of the lap lanes. Too many times the lifeguards just sit there as kids jump into the lap lanes. The easiest solution for this is to simply have an outdoor pool for the kids, and keep the two indoor pools for lap swimmers and for competitions. This is also why I think they should have kept the old Legion Pool open, as a just kids pool. 3) In addition to this, there should be a policy where if more than two swimmers have to be in the lap lanes, no backstrokes or any other strokes should be allowed where one cant see where one is going. I have experienced this problem here and at other pools, some man or woman gets into the same lap lane and does a backstroke and cant see where theyre going and crashes into you routinely. 4) While the warm pool water is acceptable, the large pool water is far too cold. I can swim more than 2 hours in the warm pool (and in other pools) but often I have to exit prematurely from the large pool just because Im freezing.

Life guards are usually off in lala land. Rules change with every life guard. Was their for two hours. Life guards changed several times during that time then all of a sudden one says my son cant have his toy in the water. It was not a problem with the others so why is it now. Was also their with a friend. Her son passed the deep area swim test but because he was trying to walk and his head was almost under life guard insisted he wear a life vest cause he was making him nervouse. There was no reason for him to have one. He did not want one nor did his mother. They should not be able to force life vests on children. It should be up to the parent. Also dont like the lazy river cause they allow swimming in it. I had a child swim under my childs tube. The child came up under my childs tube and knocked him out of it. My son can swim but it startled him and he freaked. I think this is very unsafe way more unsafe then diving toys or a mermaid doll. I do not recommend going here.

We usually LOVE this place, but. It is very unprofessional and inconsiderate to change the pool hours for Sunday with no advanced notice or even bother to change the hours online and on the signage at the pool. We were outside waiting for 20 minutes this Sunday with no idea along with the other 30 or so people that the hours had been changed to noon. As members this significantly effects our desire to maintain our membership especially because Sunday mornings are the best times for my family and I to go to the outdoor pool. The majority of your customers are people with children and it can be a major undertaking to get everyone ready, out the door, and covered in sunblock only to be sent home because you guys decided to keep it top secret information that the pool would not open until noon. I could understand if the hours needed to be changed but to do it in the way you guys chose to is unexceptionable. What in the world were you thinking?

NEVER book a party there!! They have HORRIBLE communication among staff members. They go back on their words as far as a party goes, and after telling their customer that they do NOT have to pay to use the pool. Then when your party arrives and is in progress they refuse to let your party swim due to bad communication within their staff. They really do not know how to handle customer service. I would never reccommend booking ANYTHING with them anytime soon. Plus their party rooms are EXTREMELY small. They are also very snooty, especially the pool staff. They had their chance to impress me, but they quickly lost it with their childish ways of handling the public and customer service. never go by word of mouth with them if booking a party....make sure that your agreement and contract is in writing!! i will never use their facility again. they are a very rude bunch of people and think that they are above their customers!!!!!
