Large dance studio. You will not get personal attention at this studio. I took my 13 year old daughter here. Since I have a background in dance I knew a good bit about what my daughter needed. I spoke to the owner to ask about my daughter taking more ballet classes. I was requesting at least one a day. You would think a business person would readily agree to the customer spending more money. I was told my daughter was too old to be starting ballet and I should focus on the recreational aspect. Interestingly enough, I drove out to Carlisle, PA to try take a placement class at Central PA Youth Ballet. Guess who was there with her daughter? The owner of Greater York Dance. That spoke volumes to me!! Three years later my daughter is still at CPYB and can seriously compete for a professional ballet job in the near future. This would not have been the case at Greater York. If you are just looking for a recreational experience and you dont mind no one knowing you childs name, this may fill the bill. I would suggest York Dance Arts for a more intimate recreational experience. And if you think your son or daughter may want to go the professional route go with CPYB. It is best to get proper training from the beginning. They have a location in Camp Hill for the lower levels. You will be able to find someone from York to carpool with.

Arts Love

Our daughter has had a great experience at Greater York Dance. She has danced there for many years and has gradually grown in her dance abilities under the direction and guidance of the caring staff and dance instructors. The studio has become her second home. She spends a lot of time there, but feels safe and loved by her fellow dancers, the dancers parents and the staff. We love to watch her develop and love that she has found something she is passionate about at this studio. Greater York Dance gives many opportunities to those interested in dance by offering everything from weekly classes for the very young to daily instruction in various types of dance (ballet, jazz, hip hop, modern, etc.) to those who want to perform more often and who may want to dance long after they graduate from high school. If youre looking for a fulfilling dance experience, you will want to look into Greater York Dance.

They provide a well-rounded dance education and provide a variety of dance styles for all ages and levels. They specialize in classical ballet and can take you to the next level of your dance training (professional dance level as well as college level). They provide the highest standard of dance education for everyone. Dance training provides creative thinking, well-organized children, increased time management, increased self-esteem, as well as a community of friendship and a love for dance. This is the place to be if you are looking for top-notch dance training as well as lots of fun!

As my child is preparing to perform in her third Nutcracker ballet with Greater York Dance I cant help but reflect on our journey so far. I have watched my child grow from a timid, shy, anxious little girl into a confident, mature, happy young lady. Dance is her passion and I trust the staff at Greater York Dance to nurture that passion and to help her continue to grow into a dance professional. She is getting a well rounded dance education from a group of talented artists and professionals who share her passion! My daughter has grown up here! The directors have created a nurturing, well rounded curriculum emphasizing proper technique and safe training. Their approach encourages personal growth along with expert training. The directors are very well connected to the ballet world and routinely bring in teachers from outside of the area.

This dance company seems to be competitive with other dance companies - to an unhealthy extent. The business competition negatively effects the students and their families. I do not recommend.
