Ive been here twice now and thought that I might like it more the second time. First, the parking is highly annoying because self parking is a 1/4 mile away in a surface lot off site which costs $5 per time you come in or out (not $5 per day). Valet is $10 per pick up (which I can understand because there are staff needed). Second, I called a day in advance to ask for a roll away and when we arrived I reminded them (it did not show up). We came back to the hotel 5 hours later and had to ask 2 more times for them to bring a roll away up to the room and when asked for an extra towel they brought a tea towel. Next, we were there to stay for the Philadelphia Marathon and there was no available shuttle bus to downtown (although 30 marathoners were staying at the hotel). Nor, was there any possibility of getting an early breakfast the normal time. The front desk service seems to be a hit or miss on the rudeness scale. When I asked for help to get to the marathon start, I was give a shove off about calling a cab without any suggestion of which cab service or how to call them. The staff was completely unaware there was a marathon going on (how do you miss out on the fact that a marathon with 30,000 participants and an estimated 75,000 spectators is descending on the city). Either the employees cant do their jobs or the management is not paying attention. The room left much to be desired from the fact that it was missing a trash can (so no where to throw any trash). The internet is $10 per night (which seems a bit steep given that this hotel is up away from the main city). The in room coffee was terrible and there is not a coffee place within walking distance to get good coffee (so get ready to pay $5 to take your car to find some drinkable coffee). The one redeeming factor was that the bed was comfortable and the sheets were clean. Overall, the staff was rude and seemed put out if asked to do their jobs, the hotel coffee is terrible, the parking is way overpriced, and I just think that this hotel is in the middle of nowhere. Im going to the Hilton in Center City or to the Marriott next time. Although they are $50-75 more per night, the coffee, free breakfast (at a proper hour for marathoners), and saving money on parking make up easily for the price increase. For $153 per night, I expect decent service and decent coffee it really doesnt cost that much.

OK hotel room but horrible customer service. Catherine Stafford - front desk manager was extremely rude and unprofessional during our stay. We had a wedding set at the hotel and the bridal party along with family members, were staying at the hotel for two nights. The hotel was given a list of names along with room types that they did not adhere to - like assigning a King bedroom to a group of 4 individuals. When a change was requested, we were told, "were all booked out tonight so youll have to pay if you want another room". I ask for a manger and am told she wont be in until 9am so we were reasonable and said, ok, lets pay for a room tonight but can you move us for the second night into a double bedroom since they are available. They said yes, absolutely and then the next day, when we go to check out of the rooms and into 1 room with a double bed to accommodate 4, we again get the "Were all sold out, sorry, we cannot accommodate". I ask for a manager and am told shell be back at noon. The wedding was to take place in the afternoon at around 3pm with a reception to follow so at around 2:30pm, I decided to speak with the manager again. At this time, she rudely tells me that its not the hotels problem that we dont have a double bed because they "dont book room types - just a room". When I mention that there were 4 in our party so a King bed doesn’t work and that we were promised the night before that we could be moved in the morning, she proceeds to say, "well, we have a double room right now due to early checkout so please move out of your current rooms and into the double one now". I tell her that with the wedding about to start shortly, I cant have everyone pack and move right now - that would be ridiculous to ask us to do now. "Sorry, we cant do anything else for you; youll just have to pay for two rooms for both nights". Their front desk staff really needs training in courtesy, respect and hospitality. Personally, I wont be visiting them ever again.

Where to start? Parking - the Valet entrance is very small and difficult when more than one car arrives. Can not accommodate a bus to the front door. Also stair to enter the building. Our bed had dirty sheets on them. It looked like blood. It was disgusting. They did replace them. They even brought back the made that missed it in the first place and made her apologize to me - very awkward for me and her. (She didnt speak english) They proceeded to clean our room the next day while I was in the room and would not leave until they were finished. I was trying to get ready for my sisters wedding. They did not replace coffee, cream or sugar we drank on Saturday. We found this out Sunday morning. Two trips downstairs and 25 minutes later I had a cup of lousy coffee. We went to our brunch and one of the waiters dumped four Bloody Marys on me and another person. They again apologized but when your covered in Bloody Mary its difficult to except an apology. I would NOT recommend this hotel or any other Hilton. They have all the pieces to be a good hotel but there staff was very poor. The manager was very difficult to talk to - she seemed like we were annoying her for asking for little things like coffee cups for our room. When checking out with her she was basically very rude. I thought I was double charged for my bar bill. She found the bill and seemed to want to prove I was wrong more than anything else. The manager was very poor.

We were overwhelmed with the perfection and success of the two days of events the Hilton did for us. We had a luncheon, dinner/dance party and a brunch to celebrate the occasion of our daughters Bat Mitzvah. I had very high expectations and the Hilton totally exceeded every expectation I had. The food was delicious, plentiful and beautifully presented. The staff were professional, knowledgeable and extremely helpful - the service was seamless. Every detail was taken care of in the best way possible. The Hilton thought of things before I did and took care of them. The Director of Catering, Randy Schaller, and his staff, get the job done and done well. My guests appreciated the convenience of the Hilton being central to all areas of the Greater Delaware Valley and so easily accessible. The out of town guests had two major airports nearby, Philly and AC. I have had so many kudos from family and friends. Across the board people went out of their way to say this was the best Bat Mitzvah they have ever attended. I received many complimentary calls, emails and letters from my friends and family all raving about the events. And all this within budget - just remarkable! Why would anyone ever have an event anywhere else? The only reason would be that the Hilton is booked. Thank you just doesnt cover it. For service, food and decor above and beyond, Hilton Philadelphia City Ave is the place.
