Very funky bar and tiny music venue with sandwiches shaped like a twisty alley in the tenderloin district of downtown Olympia. The waitress NEVER offered us water, was coarse in her communication with the wife, and the place was NOT clean. It doesnt look like the health department inspects these places. The music forum in the back was intimate. The seats and tables all look like they were recovered from a wrecking yard. There was no cover charge for the musicians, although it did have a tiny stage and sound system. There was water on a bare concrete floor next to our table and the glasses didnt look clean. When I asked for ice water, the bar tender demurred, motioning me to pitchers without ice. i.e. the service was terrible and very unprofessional, although their prices for what they served were high. The Mrs. described the food as unmemorable. I worried whether the turkey in the Reuben sandwich was stale as a cost cutting measure, putting us at risk of food poisoning, which wed experienced in the past at another of Olys delis. The meat at the eateries in Olympia is dangerous because the health department doesnt adequately inspect them and the owners figure they save money by storing the meat an extra couple of days.

First off, I am ashamed that I even HAD to give them one star on the rating scale in order to post this.....So, for those of you folks who come to Oly and stop at Le Voyeur based on some of these glowing commendations, I hope you get lucky and leave as a happy customer. I really do, because our town is populated by a majority of friendly and respectful human beings. None of which work at this turd of a restaurant, and the rest of us would really like you to look forward to coming back to Olympia, rather than vow to never return. However, it is far more likely that you will leave Le Voyeur dissatisfied, offended by the staff, and smelling sort of like a greasy, rot filled garbage dumpster....not to mention the lack of a truly COLD beer. Any place that gets great reviews on here from some gourmand who is "nuts about the fries" should be suspect. Avoid it. I am serious. And as for bands that might consider playing here, do your career, stomach, hearing, and liver a favor, and go do something better for yourselves. It is an absolute waste of your time.

20 years ago a hipster took me to this place and told me this is a hipster scene. You see, he didnt know he was a hipster. Well, 20 years later The Voyer is the best restaurant in Olympia hidden by a thick film of hipster goo. Hear me out, the food is made with love and the menu is great. You just have to get past the fact that each person looks the same and they all think they are the most unique person in town. Ripped jeans and messed up hair, check. Septum nose piercing, check. Punk patch on a jeans jacket, check. Multi dyed hair color, check. Get past it all because this place is awesome and it needs more awesome people like you to drown out the constant whine of hipster entitlement. That was a long review. Last thing ... Get the fries!!!!!!!!

Ah yes, the Voyeur. This small restaurant is the epitome in catering contradictions. Nestled in the black hipster heart of Olympia, the grunged out and black lit atmosphere is anything but inviting, if anything it screams, GET OUT WHILE YOU STILL CAN! The employees would rather rake their faces off their heads than suffer the indignity of good customer service, and somehow YOU, the customer, are the cause of every possible problem in their lives. Running away, FAR FAR away, is your natural instinct HOWEVER, if you do, you will miss some of the dankest, most bubonic food in the history of hippies anywhere. It WILL scare you, it WILL feel uncomfortable (if not unnatural) but stick it through, this is the culinary heart of Olympia personified.

Ive never had a bad meal here. Sure, sometimes the wait staff of Olympia can be rude, but the owner and most of the people who work at the Voyeur, are great people, who work very hard to serve good food and drinks. As I write this I am consuming the Super Salad, a hearty and delicious salad that is filled with broccoli, cabbage, carrots, tomato, lettuce, olives and garbanzo beans. On top of it all you can get either Tempeh or chicken(or both!). Both taste fabulous. This place is amazing for people who are vegetarian or vegan, I am neither, but I deeply appreciate that this place has delicious alternatives for everyone. Give it a try, you wont regret it. Oh also, its a kickass venue for bands. <3

I have seen over 50 shows inside this venue! I love it. I hope that they are able to get a new sound system with monitors for their performers. I believe it would make this small venue space unstoppable. I have seen artists in this venue that have been featured in Rolling Stone. It is one of the few all ages venue in Olympia, WA. We should try our best to support it, and keep it running. Beware and keep in mind it is downtown Olympia, if you expecting a clean bathroom to do your business in after 10PM, this might not be your spot! Great food! Good amount of vegan options if that is your thing. The staff is helpful and very accommodating!

This place has fantastic food! Its not necessarily always family friendly as it stays open late and often has punk rock and metal shows, and other underground music. Most of their shows are 21+ and the ones that arent are all ages until 10 pm. Everything on their menu can be made Vegan, their kitchen is open, so you can watch them cook. They do use separate pots, pans, and skillets/cooking utensils when making a Vegan dish. Great place for the college crowd, a good meal with hefty portions. There is a bar in back, and the stage for events. Known for hosting comedy night.

the worst service ive ever had, made a comment to the bartender about her service, went to the bath room when i hear a knock on the door, i open it and the door swings in and im grabbed by the throat by the staff, shoved into a wall and had to fight off three people walking backwards out of the restraunt to protect myself. not a safe place, terrible service, and i was assaulted by some greasy bleached hair dude walking out of the bathroom, need i say more?

Everything had WAY TOO MUCH GARLIC. It over powered all the other flavors. I needed to take a dump, but the restrooms were really gross. There was hardly anyone there, but it still took them 30 min to bring me the bill after I asked for it. I struggled giving this 2 or 3 stars because the people were nice but everything else sucked. Might be an okay place to grab a beer with friends, but I wont eat there or use the restroom again.

Le Voyeur is a restaurant unlike any Ive ever been to. The have so many options for vegetarians, vegans and omnivores alike. Always a different experience, interesting music, interesting wait staff, and absolutely amazing food until all hours of the night. As for the people saying it smells or is dirty are full of it. Its definitely got character. But Ive never observed it to be unhygienic or smelly. Also garlic fries are a must!
