Im so bummed to be writing this review. We had awful service here, and Im not sure I can give this place another shot. Heres what went down: I met my friends and their elderly mother/mother-in-law for an early dinner at Twilight. After pizza, we wandered by Birch St. and decided to pop in and check it out. I was pregnant at the time, so I understood the startled look given by the server, but not what happened next. She came to our table and said: "Were actually a speakeasy-themed UPSCALE cocktail lounge, so we dont have those pink martini drinks or flaming margaritas, just so you know." Fine by us! Our little group is always seeking the perfect cocktail. But why the tude? My friends are from Portland, and this was not helping me sell my very small, but very cool, little downtown! We here in Camas are usually so friendly! It got worse: She took our drink orders, eyed me up and down (yep, 9 months pregnant, I get it, pretty big), and says "Water?" with a sniff. No really! Mayve she had a cold? Or a case of the snobs? I asked if she had a mocktail- a cocktail without the booze. "I TOLD you we dont have that sort of thing." Surprised by her tone, demeanor, and lack of creativity or willingness to make an effort, I politely suggested a tonic water with some mint, lime, and a cucumber garnish. Not so hard! "I guess we can do that," she mumbled and huffed away. She brings our drinks (my friend did say her Manhattan was very good- and she is something of a connoisseur of Manhattans- I trust her opinion) on a tray, and my friends mother wants to taste the beer ordered by her son in law. So my friend offers her mother the glass from the tray- which apparently shocks the server. She tosses our drinks down and returns a short while later...with another beer. "We didnt order this." At this point the server is nearly apoplectic, defending my friends husband: "You took the gentlemans beer from him to give to the old woman (yes, she called my friends mother an OLD WOMAN in front of all of us!). So I brought him a replacement." "Well, we didnt order it, please take it back." The server huffs back to the bar and loudly complains about our table to the barman (owner?) who tells her its no big deal and to cool it. Thank you, barman! She gave us glares and ignored our table for the rest of our stay. When it came time for the check, she was all smiles, though! Yeah, right- like thats going to make up for the chilly and extremely uncomfortable atmosphere you provided our entire visit. No tip- and no return trip, I think, either, even though babys out and Im dying for a gin & tonic! I will make the drive to get better service, elsewhere. Too bad!

I play music at Birch Street Uptown Lounge monthly and have to say this truly is one of my favorite all time bars. The owner Kevin whom is just a great guy. Professional, friendly and inviting. He keeps Birch a warm, inviting, wonderful place to get the very best cocktails and proper eats. He brought in live music that not only entertain the patrons but employ some of the areas finest musicians. I rarely get to be there on nights with Dennis but hear he is a great mixologist and very personable. Ron I do know well and he is an amazing mixologist! Always cocktailing the very best cocktails either on the menu or if I want something different he knows exactly what to make me! Funny, fast, talented and still professional. When you walk into Birch youre greeted by Melissa, the gorgeous cocktail waitress with a beautiful smile & looks amazing everytime. She reinforces the theme of the prohibition era cocktail lounge with her signature look. She knows what I want before I do and makes sure we are taken care of all night long. She is fun, talented and professional as well! I really cant say enough wonderful things about Birch. I recommend it to all of my friends and family and ofcourse to you too!

Okay.. So I would give this place 4.8 out of 5. The place looks great, the atmosphere is the best. Great music and feeling when you are here. Great place to check out during the week for a quick drink and to relax, whether you are alone or with someone. There is live music on the weekends and they seem to always be open. Its a very classy place and after you visit once, you will find reasons to come back. The prices are not cheap, on anything. The food and drinks are steep but worth it. I suggest you check this place out with a good friend or on a first date and you will be very happy. Do not expect to have a big dinner, there are a ton of great places to eat downtown Camas, so eat earlier, then go in for the cheese and meat plate or the bbq sliders. I posted a pic of my meal and it totally hit the spot.

I live in Camas and typically go to nice places in the Portland where the service is friendly and the drinks are good. Was happy to see a cool little spot close to home. Until... While here I over heard the owner brag about being a "mixologist" while bad mouthing his customers choices of drink. Pro: -located in cute downtown Camas Cons: -Arrogant/pretentious/rude owner -Extremely over priced for average drinks ($10 seriously? Not in this market). -Horrible food -dark depressing environment If youre looking for small town charm go to Caps And Taps or Adams just down the street. There seems to be more real folks here. If you like to feel like you are not deserving of the service YOU are paying for, this is the place for you!

The complete package. Its dark, sure, but not depressing... its sexy. The drinks are not cheap, but they are perfect and crafted expertly, and (on the off chance) its not right, they will fix it for you in an instant. The live music is always excellent and worth the visit all on its own. I have had the same server on all my visits, and she is stellar... sometimes she knows what I want before I do! I cant say enough good things about this place, but if you want proof, just check out how packed the place is on the weekends!

Top-notch service, ambiance and drinks. Dont look at the prices - its not cheap, but those three areas noted dont come cheap. Every classic mixed drink prepared by a qualified bartender. Fantastic place to take folks from out of town. Live music on the weekend. Expanded location is even better now, as it can get very crowded on weekend. Get a tattoo next door at Rics if you have the time. If its too crowded head over to Beer at a Time instead, but its worth it.

A craft cocktail bar in Camas is a rare thing. I was overjoyed to discover this oasis meshed in between low-brow beer bars. Several other classy joints have sprung up in Camas but Birch Street was the first to step it up. They have finger foods that are decent. Live music on most nights that isnt to loud to have conversation.

I had fantastic service when I went. The atmosphere was nice, they tried to bring back the feel of a 1920s pre-prohibition bar and were fairly successful. They specialize in drinks from that era and everything I had was great. Prices are a bit high and their only food selection consists of appetizers such as cheese plates.
