On the 17 hour trip, it takes about 5 hours to get to the fishing spot which means 5 hours to return. Caught some nice size fish but because of the amount of the people on the boat (35) the fishing lines constantly got tangled. The two boat mates did a great job getting things right, but all the tangles took time away from actually fishing. Make sure you bring you own cooler to store you catch and make sure you keep an eye on your fish. During the 5 hour trip back my cousin and I relaxed on the top deck but when the boat docked and everyone started to deboard, someone wanted our catch more than we did. Our fish were stolen off the boat by another fisherman. The two boat mates did everything they could by checking coolers of those who were still around, but found nothing. The Captain of the boat made a comment that "it was probably the same culprits" and my reply to that was, "and you let them back on the boat"? The company did nothing to rectify the problem (not sure what they could do really), but a couple of the other anglers gave us a few of their fish. $220, 17 hours on the water, 8 hour round trip to Va. Beach from DC, Annual leave from work for Thursday and Friday, and home with two donated fish. I guess who ever stole our fish needed them more than us. Enjoy.

We were vacationing about an hour and a half away from VA Beach and drove down for the 6 PM to 9:30 PM fishing trip. When we got there, a fishing boat was bringing people back from a trip. I noticed they all had grocery bags with fish in them. Upon further inspection, I saw that none of the fish were bigger than 7 to 8 inches. When we got to the counter to buy our tickets, I asked about the size of the fish wed be catching and they said the fish are "pan size." We decided against going on the fishing trip because Im not paying $38 per person to catch minnows. On top of that, the people were weighing their bags of fish and I believe they had to pay to take the fish home, although Im not certain of that. After resolving that wed rather not go on the fishing trip, we decided to go on the dolphin adventure cruise, which is $21 per person. We boarded the ship and it went out of the inlet and simply followed the shore up to the edge of the bay. We saw a few dolphins, but overall I was very dissatisfied with the trip because I was expecting the boat to go out into the ocean rather than staying within a few hundred feet of the shore the whole time. I wont be giving Rudee Tours my business again.

Me and my wife went to VA Beach on a Sunday. We had been there several times and were bored with the typical boardwalk and the Va Beach downtown area, and were looking for something different. I checked their website and it had a coupon worth 2 $. Took the printout of it and opted for the dolphin tour at 7 PM. There ticket window had a note saying that dolphins are mostly active during day time and might not be visible in the evening hours. I thought if not dolphins, I will at least be able to view the sunset. So, I purchased 2 tickets for the dolphin tour and was able to secure 2 seats on the top deck. It was a 90 minute tour and for approximately 40 minutes, all we could see was the boardwalk and setting sun, which was quite beautiful view. But after reaching half way thru, we suddenly saw a group of around 20-25 dolphins. It was just amazing. I got much more than my moneys worth. The view of the setting sun, brightly lit boardwalk, the view of chesapeake bay bridge tunnel, and the cape henry lighthouse, it was absolutely worth it.

I rarely write reviews but I had to write one regarding the female that is responsible for answering the phone. I called about two weeks ago regarding the Thursday offshore trip for a group of staff that I manage. She was extremely rude and didnt want to answer any questions. I had one quick question. Since its $200 per person I was just curious and wanted to provide my staff with additional information since we’re at least 4 hours away from Virginia Beach. Called back today and the line was busy. Called back again and someone answered and didnt say anything and hung up. I thought maybe theyre having phone problems and it happened again. The last time I called she answered. I was able to ask one quick question and received a quick response. Before I could say anything else she said okay and hung up. This person needs be removed from this position or fired!!! I think Rudee Tours is fine they just have a person with no customer service skills answering the phone which is unfortunate. Totally unacceptable!

I have only been to the night time fishing tour (6:00-9:30) in July. Quite disappointed. First of all, it was too crowded. You are literally into your next door neighbors face, so much so that the fishing lines are often entangled. Secondly, there is something fishy about the whole experience. The captain drove for about an hour off shore and stopped at 3 to 4 places. Everytime he stopped and told us to drop the baits, there would be some fish within the first 5 minutes, then nothing; we only got one kind of fish, they are abour the same size (the length of a palm); while cleaning the fish, I realized that none of them had any samller fish or other sea creature in their stomach....I had a strange feeling that these fish were farmed and released to the sea for us to fish! Pure speculation, but enough to ruin my apetitite for the fish.

We were told by both employees there that "a seat is a seat and we have to charge for it regardless of their age." One even claimed it was policy for insurance liability. My apologies for the $10 difference in prices though. Sad part is that Im a local, not a tourist looking to make the best of it. They really turned us off from being repeat customers. Thanks for your reply though. That actually means a lot to me and Ill be sure to add a star for that. They have a great selection of tours and options, but I cant justify paying $40+ for a 3 month old. For a much better deal just check Craigslist, those guys dont have to worry about big marketing campaigns, managing a waterfront business, or even a staff. This place was way overpriced for what you get. Definitely a tourist trap.

I was skeptical to do the fishing tour as all the reviews were really bad. But for $40 I couldnt imagine it be all that terrible. We went on a Monday there was only about 20 people on the afternoon tour. We had a nice boat ride and caught lots of quick fish. They werent big...but again for $40 you caught tons of fish! The mate Jazz was really helpful and made sure everyone was fine and had bait. They didnt before for tips like others said. The captain made an announcement about it. Also you can smoke just be sure the smoke on the back of the boat... people will always tell their bad experiences. I went on a Monday and it was really nice....maybe these others went on weekends when it would be packed. This was definitely worth the $40 I paid so sit on a boat and relax while fishing.
