Nice course, very nice staff. I walk 9 after work at least twice a week. Have never had a bad experience with the staff. They treat active military very well. Sometimes the greens are a little rough, but for the price this is a great course. Back 9 is absolutely beautiful and challenges you to use your skill and multiple clubs. Also, its so quiet and peaceful. Front 9 is great for using your woods! Lots of long hitting. Occasional freight train comes by the right side of the course, but doesnt take anything away from your game. Overall really nice experience. Wont be disappointed with this course. Love to play it. Im a 16 handicap and play multiple courses throughout the area. Live on Nansemond River Course... which is a great course also, I just like to change it up.

The course was in terrible shape, the people in front of us were slow and would not let us play through. Im pretty sure the first water cooler I saw was on like the 12th hole. There were no yardage markers anywhere on the course other than a "200", "150", and "100" spray painted on the cart path. There was not one sprinkler head yardage on the course and Im pretty sure the few yardages they did have were way off. We saw a guy playing in a tee shirt and athletic shorts on a Friday morning, what the heck kind of course lets someone play in that?

The layout is very cool and will keep golfers of all skill level entertained. Pam in the grill is always fun to talk to and makes some good hot dogs that you can grab at the turn or after your round. The cost of play is very reasonable, and you get very good value for money. The only downside is that their driving range, while it is grass, is not a nice surface to practice off of.

Clearly the previous reviewer is a hacker who has no idea what a decent golf course looks like, and clearly expects pros to hand him free lessons because he sucks. The greens and fairways in April (when his review was written) were PRISTINE. Dont blame the course because you cant handle a dog leg left. Great course, challenging, friendly, and always willing to please.

New ownership is not very good. I use to play this course frequently but stopped after new owners treated me rudely. Play Nansemond River, Cypress Creek or Sleepy Hole if you want to play in Suffolk. Courses mentioned are top notch and proffesional.
