Went here for the Harvest Festival. Found a deal on Living Social, but I have to say its worth the full price admission. Parking was organized and simple. The landscaping is intact and cozy, and makes for a nice place to sit and relax or walk around. Located on a busy road, but is far enough back that it doesnt interfere with your enjoyment. The tasting room is small, but there are table and chairs downstairs and upstairs, on a balcony, and in the garden/patio. The building has a cozy cottage feeling and beautiful wooden floors and stairs. Restrooms downstairs and upstairs, and were clean. Took a tour of the winery, then attended a winemaking 101 session with the owner Mitzi. Shes such a delight to talk to and thoroughly enjoys this business. She knows the science behind it and that makes it easier to understand and helps you appreciate your tasting session even more. Im not a big fan of reds, but I did like their Montpelier Blush. As a fan of whites, I did take home a bottle of their Hanover White. Such a clean, crisp taste that isnt overly sweet. I like how they involve their customers with tastings, pairings, and education in such a comfortable, relaxed environment.

My wife and I were wine club members for a few years before moving to SC and we loved the wines at James River and visit every time we are in VA. However, the service on this trip was awful. After purchasing over a case of wine, we asked if we could borrow a knife to cut our cheese for our cheese and crackers and lady getting our classes said she would look. She came back and said "I did not see a knife in passing", so she did not get us one. In addition, apparently some of their bottles were missed labeled which I completely understand. However I did not check my case since the cashier boxed it up for me and as you can see in the image, I ordered 4 bottles of Rad Red (which is on the label), but the label actually says oops Im actually Hanover Red. One would think the staff would be more cautious with mislabeled bottles. Update: The tasting room manager finally got in contact with me and is refunding us the cost of the incorrect bottle, but its still disappointing to not receive what you order in addition to the poor customer service.

I LOVE this place! My husband and I have been t several "high end" wineries in the area, but this place speaks to us. This is a cozy winery with personal face-to-face service. The passion they have for their winery is lovely. They offer a second floor so you can purchase a glass of wine and head up to the balcony and sit outside and overlook the beautiful landscape.

Good wine but staff (pretty stiff always asking for ID) and atmosphere (adjacent to an industrial highway and a driving range) give it a 3.
