Our 5 y/o LOVED the "Potomac Module Crew" and "Lego Model Train" event. He wasnt the only one! Great setup and so much history to look at even if there isnt an event. The caboose outside, with the N gauge setup, was a hit, almost as much as the HO exhibit. Our little guy even got to run one of the remote control HO trains whostle and bell! We thank the FS Train Museum and Potomac Module Crew sooooo much! Definitely keep an eye out for special events because they are truly fun for the family train enthusiast, and everyone

Disappointing to say the least. Although kids and adults were inside the museum at the time we (wife, 5 year old son, and me) arrived, not a soul opened the door when we knocked on a weekend afternoon. In fact, no one looked up to see who was knocking. The people inside were studiously ignoring us. My son, a real train lover, was disappointed but got over it quickly. We never went back.

Pros: Well preserved mini-museum of locomotive history in the virgina area. Friendly museum volunteers make all guests feel that southern hospitality. Cons: Small...yet big enough to keep young kids entertained. Bottom line: Good place take young kids, up to about 10 years old, for an hour or so. Even better for kids crazy about trains.

A neat place to visit, but doesnt really have the room for small children. Leave the young ones at home, the indulge your inner child with model railroads and real history.

Nice little walking trail around railroad museum (small museum, fee charged), and railroad car outside, small parking area.

Unless youre REALLY into trains this is not for you. Everything was off-limits for the kids so they got bored quickly

Great place to hold your parties, to see cool model train setups and participate in special activities.
