Went out looking to have a good time, when my fiance and I arrived at this bar/night club we walked in the door and the person at the counter just stared at us, I nodded as I walked by. Some ridiculously rude woman came running from the door behind the counter pointing in our faces "GET THEIR IDS". Forgive me, but if your doorman doesnt at least acknowledge that I am a customer, I cant assume you want to see anything from me. As we pulled out our IDs the guy at the counter mumbled something under his breath, when I said "excuse me?" he said "DO YOU HAVE ANY OUTSIDE ALCOHOL OR KNIVES!" with the rudest tone Ive ever heard from a door-man. When I politely said "No" we took our IDs and began to walk inside. That is when the woman came back "WOAH, WOAH $5 each!". At this point I am done. I am not going to pay $10 for two people to enter into to 1/8 full "night club" so that I can spend more money at the bar while the entire establishment seems to be run by assholes. I remember looking at my fiance as we were leaving and joking that I wish there were Mormons who owned bars because at least they would be polite and thank us for our business. TL;DR The two employees I encountered were complete asses and I wouldnt return if it was the last bar in SLC.

Ive been to a few country dance bars in AZ, CO, UT, etc and have found the Westerner to be lacking in a few areas that could be easily improved: *Their dance floor is glossed as opposed to powdered or dusted for sliding boots *Their DJ announcer sounds like a complete douche as he yells at ear drum rupturing levels during the middle of songs for people to close tabs and at the end of the night to chase people out. I seriously hate that guy and would increase one or two stars if he were gone. "Thanks for coming out and thanks for GOING HOME..." what a dick! *Security immediately begins yelling in rude tones at people to clear out at the end of the night, something I have not experienced elsewhere. *Security takes their sweet time checking i.d.s. which results in waiting lines out in the cold. Seems like they could add another i.d. check person fri and sat nights to hustle it up a bit. *A lack of air circulation causes dancers to overheat. Possibly a tactic to motive people to buy drinks? *The wobble and other line dance songs are repeated in the same night. Booty dance songs are played the last hour of the night and dancing gets pretty trashy

Our table gets a rude waitress who couldnt handle a simple question when I had asked her if she had the Shock Top that weve been waiting for. Her response was "Uhh yeaaa" with attitude and then she said to my bro in law "youre not the only table that Im serving". Seriously?!! Who the hell works at a bar/club and has to explain to us that were not the only table like were oblivious to our surroundings?? After, she had avoided us for quite some time (cause were not the only table shes serving lol) I had to shout out to her to get her attention & she implied that I was rude because of the way I got her attention. She could no longer serve us and we had to go directly to the bar cause there was miscommunication & she didnt want to make anyone mad (too late). Customers go out to the bar/clubs to have a great time. If that waitress MANNED UP & left her attitude/smart comebacks at home -this situation could have been avoided. Step up your game & improve your customer service!! Youre welcome.

my gf and i went here and ordered what they call the "Mega Platter" Which claimed in writing on the menu that it feeds 4 people it had 3 chicken tenders 2 wings (1 leg and one wing) 2 jalapeño poppers 4 fried zucchini 2 Mozilla stics 5 onion rings 5 deep fried mushrroms and about a half order of fries definatly not enough to feed one hungry man more or less 4 people and at $16.00 definitely not worth it.we had to return the first order because it was way over cooked. the drinks are over priced compared to other local bars. my gf and i waited 20 minutes for the cocktail to come over to us instead of going around trying to make money she was sitting with her friends 4 booths down from us i ended up going to the bartender/manager myself to get our drinks. half of the drink we got the "security" guy ended up getting us. just a pathetic place as far as staffing and food and drink quality and price. the only thing good about this bar is the atmosphere and the dance floor.

Your bouncer last night was very hostile! Didnt ask me or my friends about the table situation instead we were accused of taking another patrons table. First we were seated there by your waitress who assured us the bouncer and your manager that the table was free and cleared of anyone sitting there and reserved. Rather then taking care of the problems among your staffs miscommunication behind closed doors you choose to involved your paying patrons and treated us as if we are there begging and that we are criminals. Ive never feel so mistreated by any business staff let alone the establishments manager. I will never go back for this mistreatment. Remember who keeps you in business. You will not last long if you think you are right in thinking how you handled last nights situation. I will spread my disappointment and my mistreatment by your staff through out the social media and anyone that i come across.

We always have such a great time at the "W"! The best country dancing memories that we have include the Westerner. What I think we like best is that you can always find happy friendly people and anyone is welcome and feels welcome. We have made great friends with people that we have met there. The dance floor is amazing probably one of the greatest I have ever stepped foot on.. Ive had the opportunity to visit many places in the South Texas, Oklahoma, etc. and visited Country bars and dance clubs, the Westerner is right inline with those clubs. We meet people all the time while traveling and when we say we are from Utah they always rave about the Westerner. Plenty of room and great music and sound a great little slice of country heaven right here in Utah! Thanks for all the great memories!

As members of the Westerner, we must express our absolute dismay with the direction the Westerner is taking. What started out as a fun Country Western club, is rapidly going down hill to cater to the Hip Hop genre. They recently relaced the intermission (DJ) with some kid who has no clue what country western is. He want out of his way to cater to requests from kids barely out of puberty to play their techno-disco, hip hop, rap crap. There are far more clubs around Salt Lake that have this genre as the norm. We go to the Westerner specifically for country western. If this is the direction that is intended, long time members are going to opt to go somewhere else.
