5 stars for the beer! I am yet to have a Shades of Pale beer that I didnt enjoy thoroughly! Trent, the head brewer, understands how important a smooth balance of flavors is, and its obvious when you taste the fantastic beer he brews. He is usually around brewing and/or serving beers, in fact hes been here every time Ive stopped in. Im not sure If Im just lucky or if he just basically lives at the brewery, but either way its always great to chat about beer and give my compliments directly to the brew master. Now the building, on the other hand, isnt exactly 5 stars, but if you have a thing for industrial decor, this place might be your Valhalla! The building is literally an old meat processing plant. From the front door it is a little bit of a maze to get back to the bar area. The bathroom has no hot water (yet). Overall, you can tell they have their priorities focused on making great beer first, and they are making efforts to improve the building as they go. An old meat processing plant strangely makes for a memorable and relaxed environment. This is a great place to enjoy a beer. You can also fill growlers or buy bottled beers here.

This is a really unique atmosphere. I love how the bar is put together as a part of the brewery. The setting is great for hanging out with friends and cant be found anywhere else. The beer is some of the best in the area. They make the best 4% beer hands down, their full strength is really high quality as well. I consider myself to have very high beer standards.

Avoid this place! Beers are good, location poor and service is terrible! This place doesnt even have regular restrooms, has to be the only bar Ive been in with trailer restroom that arent even operational. The main reason I recommend avoiding this place is the very poor service provided by staff. Much better option available in SLC.

While the taproom itself, seems to be a work in progress, and could use better lighting, the beer is 10/10. Shades Of Pale is brewing the good stuff. Their double IPA, The Salt City Citrus IPA, and their special releases in my opinion stand up to some of the best beers in the country.

Yes, when your from out of town and roll up close to closing early week, this place is creepy as **** until you find the actual bar. But its worth it. I promise that there is awesome beer being poured by good bartenders, and not actually a maniacal butcher waiting for you.

Small startup brewery where the owner will wait on you and talk at length about his product. The beer is exceptional but the look of the bar wont impress anyone. With that said...great place to share some brews with the boys and its super close to Pats BBQ which is a plus!

I space is amazing the beer is even better! The patio is one of the best in town. Watching U of U football on the big screen and their tasty beer is almost as good as watching the game live. If you are looking for a new place this is it!

Absolutely entrancing atmosphere. They have takeout menus from the surrounding amazing food joints like pats bbq which helps because its beer only no kitchen. Delicious brews and live music made it a great time.

Cool brewery in an industrial setting. The quality of the beer is totally 5 star. The beer was so good I didnt mind paying the high price for the goods. Ill definitely return for more brew soon!

A hidden gem of the west side. Amazing new brews and a very cozy brewery / bar. Pro-tip: order some BBQ next door. If the BBQ place isnt busy theyll bring it to you.
