Let me just start out by saying I think this is a pretty generous review. I was in town for business and wanted to play 18 so I checked the reviews and it had 4 stars. In Phoenix, a 4 star course is pretty nice so I was expecting something half-way decent. Unfortunately, I was disappointed... maybe because its winter golf in Texas??? On the other hand, the staff gets 7 out of 5 stars. They can have the two I didnt give the overall review. Since I didnt have clubs with me they allowed me to borrow a set. These werent the nicest clubs but I wasnt out to win the Masters (nor will I ever) so I didnt mind the set. When I got lost between holes, (because the holes are poorly marked) one of the staff came out and gave me a ride in the cart to the proper hole (I know... this makes me look like an idiot. Sometimes I am...). The course conditions were POOR (and thats being generous). One of the bunkers was just mud... it didnt even have sand in it. Pace of play was great. Walked all 18 in just under 3 hours. After my round the bar guy cooked me some food and let me hang out for a bit before leaving (even though I was the only one there). I would go back if course conditions improved... but its a huge "IF"

Course was in TERRIBLE shape. Not kidding - there was ONE green in which I would consider not totally dead. Back-9 looked like no one had been back there in years. Sand traps overgrown with weeds. We paid $32 green fee for the weekend rate. The practice facilities feels like youre on the set of "Tin Cup" with barrels and advertisement billboards in the range. They just let this course go to crap. It would have been nice 10 years ago...but now, you would have to pay me to play it again. It was so bad it took the fun out of playing. And the price of the green fee made us feel like we got raped with a smile on our face.

This course is in terrible shape! Greens and fairways are dry and full of weeds. Most of the time you are hitting off dirt or a weed. If you want to hit 300 plus yard drives consistantly play here as the ball will run forever. Bunkers need to be raked but this never seems to get done. This could be a fun course to play if it was managed and taken care of. Management, please start taking care of this course so we can have some nice courses in the Waco area.

The golf course has been under new management for the second year and the greens and fairways have improved to a level unseen in years. More work need be done on the sand traps and dead live oaks. Currently the very best buy in town for an enjoyable golf course that should be played in no more the 3-4 hours max verses 5-6 hours at the other courses in town. Play it forward !!!!

Lake Waco is the best golf for the money in Waco. It is decently maintained, yet not emaculate. Its a $30 course that you will only have to pay around $10 to play. I think that it is a more interesting course layout than Cottonwood (really well maintained nice course as well) with better views/scenery as it is directly on Lake Waco. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Courses and trials are very poorly maintained. Signs are either nonexistent or broken. You have no idea what the next hole. Most frustrating "round" of golf in my life. None of this is explained when you purchase, but if you choose to complain then they will tell you like you are stupid for not magically knowing it in the first place. I will not be returning.

The course is in decent shape for the money you pay. However the pace of play is ridiculously slow. It seems no one here understands what golf equitie is. There is no Marshall and it doesnt seem to make a difference if you call the club house. This course is fun though. If the pace of play was better the rating would have been better.

Lake Waco Golf Clubs greens look better than they have in years, bunkers have new sand, and all around the course appears to be well maintained. Apparently, it is under new management and it shows! This course is the best value in Texas, if you havent been lately, you must give it another go around.

If I could give no stars I would. They charge way too much for such a poorly kept course
