Last night was the second time my husband and I experienced Open-Mic Comedy night (at 618 NW Loop 410 location), and we’re so glad we did. Both times, there were a lot of talented, funny comedians with great potential. Granted, there were a handful of moments within certain performances that weren’t that interesting---hence the four star vs the five---but there’s always room for improvement. What we applaud about this multi-faceted, multi-colored gem of a place is that it reminds us of the reuniting of souls---with people from various backgrounds and with different and/or similar personalities, character (or a character), beliefs, opinions, preferences, etc. fully and freely expressing their inner-truths. 5 star We noticed that it’s about the integration (NOT separation or discrimination) of these unique and fascinating aspects---race, color, ethnicity, culture, age, gender, sexual preference, etc.---with the main focus being about sharing and enjoying much humor (in its wide-range of styles), smiles, and laughter. 5 star It’s crystal clear that these comedians have a deep passion for what they do, and I have no doubt that as they continue to Be their authentic, multidimensional selves, and always follow their hearts and intuition (with patience), they will witness their dreams come to life in Divine perfect timing and order. 5 star We also respect and admire these comedians (despite any so-called, earthly flaws) for their overall inner-strength, courage, creativity, knowledge, wisdom, determination, persistence, resilience, boldness (fully owning what they think is worthwhile expressing regardless if others accept or approve; because that’s true confidence and unconditional love for self) and belief in themselves (even if the trust in self/soul within starts small). 5 star It’s not easy being on stage in front of mostly strangers, but it’s even tougher to try and make people smile and/or laugh. So let’s all remind ourselves not to be quick to judge and/or criticize. On the first night there, I had a heartfelt conversation with Berto, one of the MC’s. I also told him that I wondered if he was on crack because of his crazyass laugh, and he received the joke with open arms. Last night I realized that I had my own loudass laugh (especially after a few beers), which helped me to embrace Berto’s unique and lovable laugh. What we noticed about Berto so far on both Tuesday nights, and the vibes he gave off, are that he’s: authentic/free-spirited, genuinely friendly, refreshingly honest, open-minded, open-hearted, very supportive of all the comedians, caring (encouraging guests not to drink and drive), keenly observant, very personable, considerate of others, and he has a great sense of humor. 5 star

Pros: Polite staff; Nice new facilities; GREAT entertainers. Cons: Two item minimum purchase per person; Limited food selection; Expensive food; Mediocre food quality; Inattentive wait staff; No free refills; Charging twice for drinks; Cramped table area; Mandatory 15% gratuity. My wife and I went because I got a couple free tickets. I am glad we did not pay $15 per ticket to go. Dont get me wrong, the comedians were brilliant (2/3 anyway). However, their talent is a waste on a venue like this. My wife got a soda at the bar before we could sit in the show room, and we thought that would apply toward the two item per person minimum. When we got the check I was dismayed to see that they charged us again for it. And not one of those "oh sorry, didnt mean to charge you twice" things. The itemized receipt actually says "open food" and a charge of $0.75. And the cokes are already more expensive at the bar than inside. What a racket! Our waitress was polite but inattentive. I guess she thought we didnt need anything else after she brought our food. There is such a thing as overdoing it, but they do need to check on you once in a while. They pack the tables in very close and my 6-mo pregnant wife had trouble walking around them. They are "nice" enough to warn you ahead of time about the two item minimum and mandatory gratuity (the latter was only after getting the tickets), but that does not make me any happier to pay. Your customers are not an ATM. We will not be returning.

I didnt even want to give my experience one star. I have lived in San Antonio my entire life and never have I had such a horrible event take place. They are rude and the customer does not matter. I was enjoying the show when the waitress drops a 60.00 tab in front of me. Mine you- I had a hamburger and two drinks. I had ordered a margarita prier to the show starting. The waitress had no since of courtesy to tell me that the margarita that was sitting in front of me was 30.00!!!! When I spoke to a manager he was very rude. Never once did I ask for him to remove it from my bill. But he insisted he was not going to do anything for me and if I wanted to pay with cash or credit. The situation would have gone much different if she were to have told me the price. I worked at a bar for a long time and most people dont care how much they spend on a drink but even as an upselling waitress you should take responsibility to extend the warning. I felt very taken advantage of. They obviously needed more than I did. If you are to visit this comedy club be forewarned... They will screw you over!

In town visiting for the weekend and was able to get tickets to see Jo Koy Friday night! When we bought our tickets online it said that seating would open an hour prior to Showtime, we were not seated until maybe 30 minutes prior to the start of the show. All of the employees were extremely nice except one guy, he was heavy set with long black hair. This guy did not smile, say thank you, and he had a rude tone and deamnor. The food and drinks were terrible, we ordered chips and queso, hot wings, alabama slammer and then a fruity drink. There is a 2 item minimum per person, i suggest sticking to thw cheapest items and things premade like mozzarella sticks or a soda. The show however was amazing and is the only reason I give a two star rating. All of the comedians were hilarious instead of using napkins to wipe off food we used them to wipe the tears from our eyes. The service here could use improvement but this club host wonderful comedians.

We Went to see Jo Koy and are so happy we did. He gave a hell of a performance. Having said that, the actual venue is terrible, the employees are terrible , the food is the worst and the building is disgusting. First- stay away from the food. If you even get what you ordered, because the waitress kept coming to our table saying they ran out of whatever we ordered. They literally ran out of 4 different menu items we ordered. Then they offered nothing in return and since you pay when you order, getting your refund would be a hassle. Finally, when you do get your food, its COLD! Then, while the comedian is performing they are literally cleaning up the venue. They get in your way and it is super distracting. Could you let the people enjoy the show they paid for rather than worry about going home. The bathrooms were filthy with no toilet paper 20 minutes into the show. In closing, they need a new manager and a good cleaning.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! I bought tickets to Piff the Magic Dragon for my sons birthday. We drove all the way from Houston to San Antonio to see the show. When we got there, I was told we could not be admitted to the show because he is under age 18. NOWHERE in the ticket buying process did it ever state an age restriction. NOWHERE. When I asked the club about it, this is what they told me: "this happens a lot with magicians here. Families will buy tickets and then cant get in. We tell people they should ASSUME they wouldnt be able to get in because of the kind of business we are. We should have KNOWN to call them before we bought the tickets. I was then told that the owner would contact me to discuss a possible refund. NO RETURN CALL was made. They made $75 off of me and my son lost his birthday present that he looked forward to for weeks. BAD BUSINESS practices and TERRIBLE customer service!!! Beware!
