Ive been bowling at this place for many years. Ive spent ALOT of money here both at the pro shop owned by various people over the years and on bowling itself. Ive noticed so, so many changes in the place since I started bowling here about 13 or so years ago... some for the better, some not for the better. Back in the Park Central days it was a BOWLING CENTER... among other things (blue hair central mostly). Lanes conditions were consistent, the approaches were well kept, and the equipment was top notch. These days changes have been made to bring in more revenue and increase the versitility of the place. Theyve got a big arcade, laser tag, a nice new bar area, a pool hall, projector screens to go with all of the seizure inducing lighting for weekend nights and a good layout. All of that keeps the place full over the weekends. I can respect the new ownerships business sense. My big complaint is solely about the bowling experience. Its really gone downhill in recent years. They installed a new surface... this is generally a good thing but finding a pair outside of league time that has oil is nearly impossible. Even if I ask for a fresh pair its hit or miss. Sometimes I get lucky, most times Im left figuring out a shot oil pattern the entire time. For me its not ALL bad if Im in a pragmatic mood and not coming in there just for the sake of destroying pins. Being stingy with your oil is only going to wear your lane surfaces faster and kill yourone made from real bowlers. The lane equipment appears the be the same stuff they had before the hurricane came around and screwed everything up. Theyve done some work it seems but every time I bring a new ball in there it doesnt take long at all before its scuffed to hell and has chips taken out of it. The pinsetters are OK and ALOT better than they were a year or two ago. I cant really blame the center for the beat up approaches. Some of the crowds that frequent the place are less than respectful of others property. Overall, its a nice facility. Coming from a guy who loves his bowling, the only thing Id change about it is the attention to the bowling experience. Youve got 40 lanes in there and theres no excuse as to why you cant keep solid oil on MORE of them, not all of them (I do understand the business side of it). People dont want to come in there to practice only to have their asses kicked by a shot to hell lane. If you can fix that, youd have a top notch facility worthy of all the notariety a readers choice award can muster. Youve got a nice little pro shop ran by good, knowledgeable people. I want to see that paired with a center that cares about its bowlers also.

Ive been going to Max Bowl for some time now and experiences are different each time but I always enjoy myself. Going once is not enough to judge the business in its entirety. I bowl in leagues and have a blast!!! Sure, sometimes there are problems with the keypads and / or the pins re setting but thats out of their control. Everything is maintained there, it has to be according to the regulations. During the week its always fun to go throw a few and maybe even drink a few too. You cant beat it. Try joining a league and spending more time there. A review cannot be based on a one time experience. Have fun and happy bowling.....great work max bowl!!!

If you want to go and look at pretty lights, this is the place to go. If you want to Bowl go somewhere else. You spend all your time waiting for their crappy equipment to work. We had problems with the key pads on 39 and 40. When we complained we were told " Dont know why those have not been repaired everyone knows they dont work." You pay by the hour and spend all the time waiting for ball return or pins to set. This would be a good location for a REAL BOWLING ALLEY, Dont waste your time and money going to this location.

A few comments before you decide to go to this bowling: -If you buy one hour, expect to wait at least 30 minutes while they restart the machines, fix the computers, restart the pin organizer, etc. And of course they wont give you the time that you wait. - FORGET ABOUT The arcade DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Most of the machines dont work. The service is good I mean, the guys at the front desk tried to help us a lot. The place gets PACKED after 5pm weekday

Clearly this place is a joke! Online it says that this establishment closes at 12 and when we get here they say oh we close at 11! Seems like someone needs to figure out why the times are wrong. The night before we came at 11 and the doors were still open and there were people still there. Then the male behind the counter said it like we were slow or stupid....excuse me for looking up the times online since its hard to get someone to answer the phone.

I like bowling here but they arent as good as they used to be. Last time we went we had so many problems on our lane and they took forever to help us. The womens restroom is atrocious. Im lucky that Im over 21 because the bathrooms in the bar are amazing. I wish that I could just rate the bar because I love it there. The people working there are some of the most friendly people Ive ever met.

Took my kids and a friend here this past Saturday and was extremely disappointed. You spend half your time waiting for the pins to be re-positioned and the staff is the most unhelpful bunch in regards to customer service. I spent most of my time running from the lane to the counter to complain than I spent actually bowling! Will most definitely NOT be returning to Max Bowl in Port Arthur!

Bowling was fun, there is a bar and food court inside. The lane we bowled in didnt work properly (guards were stuck). Employees were kinda helpful. I didnt know which lane to go to, no numbers on the tables and consoles. So I was directed by a finger point. The kids had fun, but can get expensive. Good to go during the summer, they gave a kids club and you will only pay for shoes.
