Positives: Its clean, its a very nice facility (aesthetically), the family environment is great (for families), and the staff at the front desk is always helpful. Negatives: (1) The "gym" is much too small. It has nice equipment but as far as usability and practicality it is severely lacking. The use of space inhibits anything other than a boring traditional workout. (2) The personal training staff takes up an unnecessary amount of space when training a client in an already tight area. (3) Males cannot wear cut off shirts because "too many members have complained." This is unreasonable. The reason for coverage in a gym is health associated not member acceptability associated. The NRH centre is a great facility. I give it two stars because I feel its not the right place if you are only looking for a gym. It is very successful at welcoming and entertaining families and if I were a father I would probably give it 5 stars.

OVERSOLD!!! OVERSOLD !!! OVERSOLD !!! Have to literally race to machines - I have been occasionally knocked over by people racing to machines. In most cases there is only ONE machine in the entire centre, and when the prima donna instructors/fitness coaches use them for clients - forget finishing your set - you have to wait 20-30 minutes for THEM to finish or just move on without completing that part of your workout for the day. If youre using the machine - they kick you off - sure the price is less than LA or 24 Hour fitness - but theyre not open 24/7 & you dont have to wait for a machine - you can get in - get your workout finished & get out. If youre serious about getting in shape & losing weight - dont bother - move on to real professionals that actually make machines available. Otherwise - waste your money

My family has been going here for a couple of years. It is not the cheapest gym, but that is because it is so much more than a gym. It is clean, friendly, and family oriented. I would have given it 5 stars, but I wish it was open later on the weekends and I wish they would monitor the indoor walking/jogging track (the runners use the walking part and almost collide with us slower walkers when they round corners). :)

This is the best option that I have seen compared to Lifetime Fitness! It is much cheaper and just as good. I admit not having the steam or dry sauna will be missed. I didnt like LF pool area as it wasnt warm and inviting. This actually has a wall you can climb up and jump off into a deep pool. It does have a slide that goes outside and back in which the kids would love. It is clean and well kept

This is a good gym, nice people. The cons, the weight room space is getting limited with more machines and not enough room to actually have space. There are too many fans on and the AC is always making it cold. Its a gym, turn them off and let it feel like a real gym. Have heard from a lot of people they would like it be open later on Fridays and Saturdays. Overall, its good for a rec center.

If you live in NRH or even if you dont, the NRH Centre is a great place to workout, swim, play basketball or pickleball, get massages, do chair yoga, have a birthday party, or simply get your cardio in. The facility is always clean and operational and the staff is always friendly and helpful. Dont forget to swing next door to check out the Senior Center and Grand Hall too!

The offer great classes for the kids (dance, gymnastics, basketball, swim lessons, etc). Plenty of machines if you want to work out and its usually not too crowded. The kiddos love the pool, great place for birthday parties. The best part is its way less expensive than a gym membership and you dont have to sign a contract,they let you go month to month.

This is a great facility. The gym is state of the art & kept up so nicely. People are good about wiping down the equipment when finished & that helps to keep it clean. The staff is friendly. There are also some excellent classes. The Senior Center is wonderful. I love all the staff - they are friendly & helpful. So many opportunities for fun here!

Its a good gym with limited free weights. If you dont care about working out and just want to run on a treadmill, go here. But definitely dont go between 5-7 pm because its packed. I mention the limited free weights because you will have to be really creative to get a good workout. Theres always someone using the exact thing that you wanted to use.

The NRH Centre is absolutely awesome! The trainers, group fitness instructors, and staff are all super nice and helpful. I use the pool, exercise equipment, and I play volleyball in the adult co-ed leagues. My daughter also takes classes at the Centre and she loves spending time in the Kids Club while Im working out :)

Pros: clean. Great for people with no kids. Cons: Horrible for families. No options to keep the kids active unless you sign them up or ballet or knitting. This is why kids are obese in this country. Save your money and play with your kids outside.

I come here with my kids for Year Round Aquatic Center. The pool is very kid friendly and at its deepest it is less than 4 feet. Great water slide, hot tub/spa area and great family changing rooms. Highly recommend.

Beautiful Rec Center. look for their promotions that come out usually 2 times a year to sign up with family membership! Cheaper if you are a NRH resident. That only makes sense since they pay taxes in the city.

While we enjoy the centre as a family (great pool and workout facility), the training session (especially smim classes) are not worth the money since they are not professional trainers!

Loves this place so much go almost every day cons, the open gym needs to be open longer on weekends and needs more gyms because most of the time 1 gym is taken up by something else

The new location successfully pushed out the community portion and made it a fitness location. Other than that, the pool is pretty cool with the climbing face and party area.

Nice, clean, and friendly. Although for the same price you can join 24hr fitness or LA fitness and enjoy many more weights and also steam room and sauna.

3 of my kids are taking swim lessons here. Great instructors. Its great for fun swim too with a rock climbing diving pool, water slides, and lazy river.
