Because I live close I can visit here a lot. Its a beautiful place, but the reflection pool needs to be cleaned. Its mucky and smells of decomposing plants and the fountains near the stairs make the smells worse. It is FAR past due. The actual civic center is beautiful, though if you visit the area while nothing is going on make sure to use the rest room before hand. There will be no access to restrooms- the closest one being in the subway or Barnes and Nobles down the street. The scenery is beautiful and is used for many photo shoots, no complaints there. The festivals and events held here are magnificent and fun. Is say this place is a 7/10.

The venue is beautiful & well maintained, but the security and traffic staff do not provide any help in directing the flow of traffic. Four graduations back to back on the same day was a nightmare. Traffic cops should have been provided so that those leaving could exit quickly and those arriving for another graduation could enter and find parking. It two hours--yes TWO hours--for me to exit the parking lot because of the mass confusion. Great job of hosting graduation, McAllen Convenient Center!!

You can walk around the water. You will probably see kids swimming in it, maybe a father and son trying to fish in it. There is a lot of construction in this specific area right now which is exciting to some. There is a US POWMIA memorial which is often overlooked, but nice to visit. Ive seen everything here from gun shows to job fairs.

Beautiful landscaping along with large open spaces both indoors and in surrounding gardens makes this place nice to visit. I saw bridal couples taking pictures near the water and they do a great job with three plants. Parking was close and free. Well lit and felt safe. Nice to have a place like this in the Valley.

Graduatiion ceremony was out of control...parents were popping confetti that sounded like a bomb went off! Security did nothing. People were cutting in line when we were waiting for n hour outside to get in! . Parents were told first come first serve and they were fighing about chairs! Too bad...very disapointed

Could use more parking when there are concerts at the Convention Center and then simultaneous shows at the McAllen Performing Arts Theatre. I had to park outside of Hobby Lobby once. That experience is sure to affect individuals with mobility issues. This place needs a parking garage, not another hotel.

An incredible place for concerts, conventions, and general outdoor events. I highly recommend this place to relax by the reflection pool on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Take your dog and kids out and enjoy the well maintained gardens and rare birds that occasionally visit this place.

Beautiful location, but has a bug problem. Went to Omnicon at this location and this is the second year in a row this location has an issue with flies. We were constantly being bombarded by flies in the building. It really brought down the fun we were having.

Entire area was beautiful. We walked in and the architecture was breathtaking, plenty of space for whatever you need. Parking was more than enough, and walking up to the building is a very nicely landscaped area.

Beautiful facility, a large variety of events, lovely trails and seating area, close to so many restaurants and has access to bicycle rentals. Mcallen B Cycle on West side parking area ($6 for 24 hour pass).

Its a big place but it is worth the walk or bike ride around. Very nice and well maintained. A plus is that they have a whole separate area for food and other stuff you would need in a pinch

The surroundings are beautiful and the small cascade fountain gives it an elegant look, its in the middle of a lot of restaurants, stores and hotels closest are embassy and la quinta.
