I love that Bass give me access to the Broadway in Austin shows and just adds to the countless reasons this city is one of the best for culture, nightlife, and entertainment! Before my first Broadway in Austin show here, I had never before been to Bass and the auditorium never ceases to amaze me. It is just a beautiful space and venue to see any type of show. Since seeing my first show here I have been back for several other Broadway Productions and an Archer Live! show. I have only ever had orchestra level seats, but I am guessing anything at Bass is worth seeing whether from the Orchestra, Mezzanine, or Balcony, I honestly doubt there is a bad seat in the house! I also love the floor setups, where there is a mens & womens restroom on each floor along w/drinking fountains, lounging areas, and a bar. The only issue with this venue, as with so many others in the downtown Austin vicinity, is the parking situation. There are parking garages and I have seen valet available for some shows at the Bass entrance, but they cost a pretty penny. For a pennypincher like myself that doesnt have the disposable income of the average Austinite, trying to find a gratis parking space often means a .75mi+ trek from the bowels of Dean Keaton or sometimes off the side streets of San Jacinto. In any case, it is always a treat to come to an event here, I just make sure to give myself a 30mins+ buffer in case I have to hoof it from a parking space Siberia.

I bought tickets to the show when they opened sale. I choose "Best Available" option, they gave me corner seats. A month later, they opened up the entire section of center seats in multiple rows. When I called in, they said they can allow me to exchange but I have to pay $5 for each ticket. 2 days before the event, they dropped the prices of the same section to 50% despite having sold 95% of the tickets. I was horrified and frustrated. When I called for a refund, they said they cannot do that because the price is set by the producer. They would not budge or even let me talk to the producer. He gave me an analogy of airline tickets. This has just left a bad taste about this establishment. I think its completely unfair when you sell the same product at two different prices. The airline analogy is just an excuse to get away to shady business practices. Even the airlines, or for that matter stores would honor lower prices within a certain timeframe. So, beware ! Getting tickets in advance may not get you the best seat or the best price !

This place is a scam and a joke. So i look at the website to get tickets for my favorite band and it says tickets go on sell in a week.. I need 8 tickets so i call to ask if there is anything i can do to get the tickets and receive a flat no. 3 days before tickets go on sale i look on stubhub for fun and they have 1000 tickets for sale for the event "3 days before they go on sale" at 3 times the cost. So i call when ticket sales open and they are sold out of everything except obstructive view seats ( why do you have obstructive view seats anyway). The lady then tells me that anyone can sign up for the email list that contains promo codes and purchase tickets early (thanks for telling me that the first time i called). I will be driving further away to a different venue as this one is inadequate and is out of touch with technology, its customer base, and is overall ignorant of how ticketing works

This past Saturday evening, I wanted to have a special date with my wife. I purchased "Wicked" tickets, took her to dinner, and decided to splurge a little and pay for valet parking at the Bass Concert Hall. We arrived at the corner of Dean Keaton and Robert Dedman at 7:20 for an 8pm show. By the time we were able to turn in our car and get inside, it was 10 after 8 and we missed the first 2.5 songs! That is completely unacceptable. Then, when the show was over, we were among the first 50 people to turn in our ticket. We waited an hour and were among the last 50 to actually get out car. I splurged and paid $21 for that "convenience"!!! I dont know if I will ever go to an event at Bass Concert Hall again! They should have held the show for us, or park us for free. There were still at least a 100 cars behind us!!! I know 6th graders that could organize it better than that!

A bit weird to be reviewing a concert hall, but this is one of the gems in Austin. A beautiful hall that makes for a perfect setting to see your next production or concert. The seating chart makes it feel like youll be miles from the stage, but you can trust the old adage - theres not a bad seat in the house. The smaller stage sets up for an intimate evening with some of your favorite entertainers. The house is "pitched" to the stage, so you dont have grandmas Sunday hat blocking your view. The only thing keeping me from giving this a 5-star rating is the small stage. Bass Concert Hall is the only theatrical venue in Austin that can accommodate traveling musicals, so when they produce here, the larger productions dont feel as epic as they do in larger venues. Sometimes this can be a good thing, but in most cases for me its not as good.

I recently attended a concert for the first time at Bass. Its an impressive looking venue with great sound. However, I hated the seats and was at a sit-down type of concert (Neko Case). I had to get up and walk around towards the end. ZTo make things worse, the guy in front of me was quite tall, and the shallow slope of the main seating area meant I had a terrible view. In the lobby, the typical vendors dispense over-priced beer and wine. Parking around here looks like a hassle. We rode our bikes and it looked like there wasnt a nearby bike rack, but eventually found one tucked on the east side of the building right next to a side entrance.

Bass is ok. Ive been to see several of the touring Broadway shows here, and while the overall theater is nice, they dont do the best job of marking obstructed view seating on their seating charts, and the stage itself seems a little small for many of the touring productions. The bigger problem is parking, since its in the middle of campus, you basically either have to shell out the $20 for Valet or walk a mile to get here. I generally prefer seeing shows at the Long Center.

Nice theater for performing arts.. Ive been to several shows at the bass and have enjoyed them all! There are multiple parking lots making it easy to arrive on time for events. They also offer valet and have a decent amount of handicap parking adjacent to the building. The bars always seem short staffed, lines taking well over 30 mins for a bottle of water. The theater room itself provides decent acoustics and fairly good views.. Cup holders would be nice!

I really enjoy going to Bass Concert Hall for Broadway shows. I saw Wicked twice here and the Book of Mormon musicals. Great services from the staff and at the bar regardless of how busy they can get during intermissions. I like the mixed audiences from the relax laid back Austinites to those dressed to impress for theater night out. Everyone feels welcome and truly enjoy the show.
