First looks can be deceiving from the parking lot it looks pretty worn down, but this is a really cool place. Beautiful view of the Mississippi river. Great museum its pretty large, could spend a few hours looking/reading. They have a miniature scale mississippi river in which kids were playing. It was really hot (101) so being able to come in and out of the air condition was good, and we cooled off with some ice cream from the cafe. All the staff we encountered were very friendly. If you enjoy history, and beautiful sights I recommend visiting.

Great place to bring the kids for a small day trip. Inside the museum there are many exhibits on life on the river, from early settlers to the birth of the blues and rock and roll. Or kids especially love the full scale steamboat and civil war battle ship exhibit. Outside the museum, and free to visit, is a model of the complete Mississippi River system, with running water that you can wade in.

A must see if your in Memphis and interested in history. You will learn a lot about the towns and happenings along the Mississippi River through the years. Otherwise not much else here. Take the tram over the river from downtown.

Great museum, knowledgeable tour guide - learned lots of facts about the Mississippi river. Love all the detail about all the cities, bridges and inputs to this mighty river system.

A fun excursion while in the city. Glad to see they are having some repairs done. It would be a shame to let this place go neglected. Walking the river model is really enjoyable.

This is a cool little museum right on the river. they have a working model of the Mississippi river, that they raise and lower to match the real river. Lots of fun for the kids.
