My daughter recently took a group lesson at J. Kelley Studio. She is 7 years old and has high functioning autism. My daughter LOVES music. She loves singing, dancing, showtunes, you name it. She asked (and that is BIG, she ASKED) to take singing lessons. We started her with voice lessons (group lesson) at J. Kelley in August. She has taken 4 lessons, the last three with 5-6 year olds as we felt it was a better fit for her. As I always do in starting a new class, I told the instructors and management about her autism and that she would likely do just fine in the class, but sometime requires a little more direction and can be fidgety after sitting in school all day long. In the first lesson, the instructor continually snapped her fingers in my daughters and other students faces in order to get them to "pay attention". It was the most disrespectful teaching method I have ever seen outside of PetSmart. After 3 more classes, we were asked to "not come back" to class anymore, that my daughter was "not welcome" and that it was not a "good fit". After speaking with their management, they expressed their concern about their other paying students/parents being discouraged by being in a class with my daughter, despite also admitting that they had not actually received complaints from parents in her class. They did not recommend a private lesson, nor did they try some other way to work with my special needs child. We were asked to leave the class for good. My daughter has participated in a multitude of different activities, ranging from ballet classes, to summer camps to sports teams. At no time has there ever been an issue with her behavior or her ability to "keep up" with the other children. At J. Kelley Studios, this was also the case. You would think that, being in the arts, J. Kelley would be able to utilize a little creativity in addressing the class environment. A place where children are supposed to be experiencing the joy and love of music. This was simply the easy way out that was not in the best interest of my child. I would strongly NOT recommend J. Kelley Studios to any parent/student that cares to learn in a caring, supporting environment.

My daughter took vocal lessons with FBAA (formerly known as JKelley Studios for 8 years. Of all her extracurricular activities throughout the years this was the single most beneficial activity she participated in. While the vocal coaches are great, the opportunity to learn stage performance and build a family of friends within this atmosphere was truly priceless. She was able to use the skills she learned not only in her vocal pursuits but also in her college interviews, school projects and job interviews, as well. Shes built a confidence in performing and talking in front of large groups that she would never have been able to build without the help of our friends at FBAA. Maury and Raquel have put together a team that works to build each student from where they are to a place that will take them long past their high school years. If your child is interested in the arts this is a great place to cultivate that. My daughter just graduated from high school and was asked to sing the national anthem at her graduation, acapella, in front of thousands of people. She delivered it with a strength and poise that many adults far more experienced than she have faltered with. She was able to do that thanks to the grooming and confidence that her years here taught her. Maury, Raquel, Hannah and the entire staff, thank you for many years of great memories and priceless moments that we will cherish always!

I cant say enough great things about J Kelley Studios. After looking at other places in Nashville, Brentwood, and Spring Hill we decided on J Kelley Studios in Franklin, TN for our childrens voice lessons. I am a former band director and it is important to me to have my kids in singing lessons with J Kelleys professional teaching style. They also have a great acting studio and dance studio teaching both musical theatre and dance classes. Our kids are in Hip Hop & Jazz and they absolutely love it! The acting classes are excellent, fun, and are super training for kids auditions. They also get the chance to perform on stage with Musical Theatre, Singing, and Dance many times throughout the year which is great on stage experience. We love all teachers and staff. They challenge the students and are very encouraging. I quote from my oldest, "Mr. Maury and Ms. Raquel have taught me so much and they are the BEST! I agree and we are so fortunate to have found J Kelley Studios!

It has been five years since we started taking lessons at Franklin Brentwood Arts Academy, and we have loved every minute! From the friendly and professional receptionist who greets you on the phone and at the door to the highly qualified teachers and staff, our experience has been purely magical. We started by taking group and private voice, but have since added acting and guitar. The coaches teach in a positive, encouraging environment and then the students are given the opportunity to showcase their skills during in-house performances. Mr. Maury and Ms. Raquel take a genuine interest in all of their students, going above and beyond to even help them with outside auditions and events. Although my daughters passion is musical theatre, I would highly recommend FBAA to anyone who is interested in exposing their child to the arts and growing their confidence and self-esteem. I am looking forward to many, many more wonderful years at FBAA.

Both my daughters have been taking lessons at Franklin Brentwood Arts Academy for over 4 years. They absolutely love it. We started out only taking group vocal lessons, but that has now evolved into taking private vocal, group vocal, acting, piano and guitar lessons. The vocal coaches are so great with the kids. My girls have grown so much vocally as well as with performance skills. Mr. Maury and Mrs. Raquel truly care about each and every one of the kids. They are wonderful at helping with outside auditions and getting them ready for events outside of the studio as well as their regular performances. The receptionist on staff is also amazing at working with you to make the lessons work with your busy schedules. Truly cannot say enough great things about Franklin Brentwood Arts Academy!!!

My daughter has been attending J Kelley for the past 7 years. Her experiences with the coachs, owners, and classmates has been the most rewarding times of her adolescent, pre-teen and teen years. She has made many diverse friendships, conquered many fears, gained confidence in herself and just plain enjoyed being in the atmosphere that J Kelley produces and promotes. The students have always been encouraging and supportive of each other which is so refreshing for such a large group. The owners of the studio take a special interest in each student, which definitely shows on open mic opportunities. These people know the business--not only singing and performing, but also respect, appreciation and hard work is taught here. Thanks so much for bringing this to Franklin!!

FBAA has been a huge part of our lives. My daughter Vanessa has been a student for the last 10 years and I couldnt have asked for a better place than FBAA for her to learn and enjoy the passion for music. She has learned so much and we owe it to the amazing vocal coaches she has had the pleasure of learning from. Her confidence level to be on stage is amazing and this is due to the fact that all students have the opportunity to perform in several showcases during the year. Our whole family has built good friendships over the years as well. Overall, I must say that we have been fortunate to be a part of FBAA and I will definitely recommend it to anybody that is looking for a place to grow their love of music and acting in a loving and safe environment.
