Friday, 3/24/2017, marked my first and last visit to Revel - the event center located off of Stone Ave. What was supposed to be a very casual and fun night, celebrating a Fleetwood Mac cover band and time with friends ended up as an escalated and aggressive evening that was fanned by the security hired by the venue owner. It was a terrific concert and I encourage EVERYONE to see the band - Rumors ATL - but do not attend this venue in the future. During the bands last song, an encore around 11pm, one of their bouncers (large, white guy with a braided ponytail) came up behind a friend of mine and lifted up his shirt. I am not sure what they were looking for but, even when they didnt find it, they escorted my friend out of the facility in a headlock, ripping off his shirt in the process. Disturbed by the activities, another one of our friends asked what was happening and was also aggressively removed from the facility. They were thrown out of the front door and into the parking lot. I confronted the bouncer myself, asking what happened and looking for answers as to why they had been escorted out and the bouncer responded that "I was not his boss, he did not answer to me and had nothing to tell me". When I then asked to see the manager, I was greeted in the parking lot by a defensive and aggressive business owner. I asked him what had happened and he said that there was a claim that something had been stolen off the bands stage (possibly why they were lifting up my friends shirt). Knowing that this was, in no way, something that would have happened with our group - I asked to look at the venues security cameras alongside the owner. It was at this time that he mentioned that THEY DO NOT HAVE SECURITY CAMERAS IN THIS VENUE. This is a concern for a couple of reasons - either the venue does not have security cameras as they claim which is a little disturbing, thinking about the large, open, concert venue that they entertain in. OR, they do have security cameras and knew that they could not prove any misconduct of the group I was in and, thus, did not want to share the footage with us. I have tried to attach an email to-and-from the band that was composed the Saturday afternoon following the concert. I wanted to reach out to make sure that there was no confusion about theft and get to the bottom of what we felt was an overly aggressive staff that shouldnt be allowed to conduct business in our town. The email could not be attached but they confirmed the aggressive nature of the staff at the venue. If you are looking for a welcoming, safe, venue in Greenville - look elsewhere.
