This review has nothing to do with the quality of instruction at Younts. We were very happy with our daughters art teacher and the instruction she received. Our daughter took art classes this past school year. No problem. We enrolled her in an art camp at Younts for this summer. Within a week or two, we needed to pull her as we had a family emergency (impending death in the immediate family). I called Younts and asked what the refund policy was, as I had paid for the entire summers camp. I was told they "didnt have one" (a refund policy) first, but it was suggested to me that the amount be credited toward next falls regular art classes (which the same, I believe). I considered that to possibly be a plan, but never received a call back. A couple weeks later, I call again - same question. Different answer. This time Im told they give no refunds, the art teachers are LEAVING Younts and will no longer be teaching this fall, and that the teachers are essentially independent and I should take it up with the teacher? Huh??? I wrote the checks out to The Younts Center - not to my childs art teacher. Organization is seriously lacking and Ive yet to get a straight answer.
If you love your child to be talked to like they are a complete bother then take them to the kids art classes. The teacher made fun of my kids, has a rhyme with an ending that says stop bothering me, gives the kids a picture of which they look at and draw what they see and you better make sure it looks like the picture or she will say something about that too. I could not believe the way she talks and belittles kids all while you are paying her to teach art, something kids usually love.
Very pleasant small venue. Easy to get to, easy parking, all decent seats. Hats off to Melvin and Dollie Younts for the upgrade.
Super nice remodel just finished. Staff & volunteers are always very friendly. Fantastic performance space for passionate people.
