New venue to me. Went there to see the band if heathens a few weeks ago and was completely blown away, Great atmosphere, great food (limited menu, the way it should be - keep it simple and good!). Usually when a place has bouncers, its for a reason or clientele. Not here. The two I met were as friendly as they come. They both went out of their way to make sure everyone had a good time. No attitudes., just doing their job in a friendly courteous manner. The venue is tiny (think Tin Angel size) The bathrooms for a concert venue/ bar were immaculate. Who looks at the bathrooms, who cares? Probably nobody. But with what we are used to in philly, its something to behold. Seriously! The food downstairs was great and the staff was equally attentive and friendly. Highly recommend setting a show there. Its like seeing a concert in your living room. Get the meatball slider sandwich, it was perfect!

Giant garage-door like windows; when theyre open in pleasant weather it feels like the space doesnt have walls, in the best sort of way. America is gradually getting onboard with the European coffee shop/bar combo—to the best of my knowledge, Milkboy has been doing it for the longest in Philly. On that note, theres a third shift happy hour with specials for Jefferson hospital employees (and anyone else who is ready for an alcoholic beverage at 7 AM on a weekday). Music venue upstairs has decent sound and some good smaller shows. Its sort of weirdly-shaped—a long, rectangular room with the stage at one end, so if you want to actually see the band you definitely have to push to the front. Almost no seating, so the space is most appropriate for a band that will have you up and dancing.

So far in 2016, Ive gone to MilkBoy twice to see shows, so my review does not pertain to the 1st floor dining room/bar. My first visit was a Saturday night. The doorman was shockingly friendly; he asked if wed been before and told us where the bathrooms were. The two gentleman bartenders were also friendly. On my second visit, I went on a Wednesday night and had food at the upstairs bar. Good, solid bar food, but not particularly memorable in a unique way. Again, friendly, competent service. When going to a music venue, expectations for service are not high, but MilkBoy really sets themselves apart from your average bar with live music.

The waitress was more interested in chatting with her fellow waitress / supervisor than she was taking care of her customers. We were in for a "quick" lunch and it turned into a waiting game... wait for water. Wait to put in our order. Wait to get the food. Never did get a refill of my drink until I asked for it ( had to ask twice ). Decent food never makes up for bad service. This is another one of those cases of a Philly restaurant relying on their name to get them by and bring in sales. Well, my dollars will not be back.

We recently held a work event on the second floor of MilkBoy. The staff, particularly the owner - Bill, were extremely accommodating and professional. Our guests gobbled up tasty sliders, chicken wings, and these chicken-cheese egg rolls type things (forget what they were called). Live music on the 1st floor (street level) really appealed to some of our attendees. They raved about how great the jazz band was & stayed post-event to soak in the live entertainment.

If you love the arts, and you love Philadelphia, stay clear of anything to do with Milkboy. There are plenty of places with great coffee in the area, like La Colombe. There are plenty of places for cool hang and a beverage in the area, like Zink. And there are plenty of studios with more appreciation for the history of the arts in Philadelphia, and a more realistic view of skill sets. I couldnt recommend caution any more fervently.

Fancy comfort food. Everything was delicious. It was my second time getting the mac and cheese. The waitress was great and suggested adding pickled jalapeños to it. Nachos are good with the chorizo. Grilled cheese with tomato soup is great. Also tried the deviled eggs, cheese curds, and buffalo wings and they were all good. Favorite thing = mac and cheese.

I was here for a show the other night, and must say it was a fantastic experience! Had a couple of "Doctors" drinks which were delicious, and the Cheesesteak Au Poivre (not your typical Philly cheesesteak) & Fries were equally as good. So... great food, drinks, and staff, and even the bathrooms were spotless. Loved it, and would go back in a heartbeat!

This is one of the most unforgettable experiences i ever had in a bar! The daytime bartender Dan is one of the most personable and talkative bartenders i have ever met. He truly rose our spirits on a not so good day. Personality aside he also makes one hell of a drink. Try the cheese curds one of the best out there.

There was hair and a piece of plastic in my wifes chili. She almost threw up. When we reported it, all they did was remove the chili from our tab. The only reason why I give it 2 stars instead of 1 is because it looks like a nice enough bar- just stick to alcohol and dont order the food.

Absolutely terrible. I rarely give out 1 star ratings, but this place deserved it. Terrible service from snot nose staff. Food was inedible. Bathroom was disgusting. Tried to pay in cash and was looked at like I had a second head. They didnt even have change in the drawer. Ridiculous.

Intimate venue for live shows but I cant give it more than 3 stars since they serve the worse tequila ever lol its only 70 proof and called tortilla. Whats worse is its $6 a shot from a bottle that costs 7.99 at the shop. Besides that, its pretty cool.

I absolutely love Milkboy. Great atmosphere, the staff is always friendly and helpful, and the food is amazing. I just wish they would stop taking my favorite items off the menu, but its usually replaced by something else that becomes my favorite.

Highly recommend the BBQ grilled cheese! Its ooey gooey deliciousness of pulled chicken, cheese and BBQ sauce! Delish! Not a very big space inside but there is outside seating (but directly across from a hospital) -- only downfall in my opinion.

Curd is the word, yo.... But seriously, their cheese curds are bomb. So so good. The bartender was super helpful and even recommended what turned it to be a great beer. Ill be back - looks as though they have live music! Worth a stop in!

Ive never eaten here, but have seen quite a few shows upstairs. Its a great venue to see a show. Its a bit long and narrow, so arrive early and get up close to the front if you want a good spot. Otherwise you might be stuck in the back.

Cheeseburger and home fries may be the best bar food Ive had in years! My burger was perfectly cooked to medium on a light as air fresh bun. Magnificent. The home fries were perfectly cooked. Crispy outsides and smooth insides.

Its a great concert venue. Whenever I go to a concert and want a cocktail I usually get charged a lot for something as simple as a whiskey and Coke. Milkboy isnt that kind of place and its just one reason why I appreciate it.
