Fantastic Bed and Breakfast! Stayed here right before the anniversary of the battle and the town was really buzzing and this place was a lovely retreat from all the busy. They had lovely (and I think healthy) cookies and lemonade available at check in, which was quite refreshing. Showed up a bit late from when I told them I would be there and that wasnt a problem at all. Stayed in Harts Artillery and it was a lovely room with one of the original houses walls still exposed. This room is an addition so I didnt believe the guest book stories about ghosts (if I believe them at all?), but that didnt take away from the time. The grounds were lovely, lots of trails and paths to walk on and just be one with nature. In the morning there is a history presentation which was very informative and all the kids got to fire a black powder rifle, this was told to me when I booked but I didnt really expect it to be anything more than a gimmick and I was happily surprised. Breakfast was fantastic! it was an egg casserole with lemon bars, this amazing yogurt and fruit cup and some sausage and potatoes. They also have a ton of tea cups and pots that I could use and it was nice being able to look around and choose what I wanted. They also has some amazing books and a bunch of outfits and historical items (real or fake I dont know but fun either way) so it was a really nice experience over all. They are pet friendly too which was really nice seeing folks bringing their dog to the history lesson, just a lovely experience! Cant wait to come back!

The Battlefield Bed & Breakfast was the first B&B I ever stayed at and that was 3 years ago. My family and I have been coming back every year since then. Florence and the staff make you feel very comfortable and welcome you like you are part of the family. The house and the property, well its amazing! To actually stay in a true Civil War house and walk on the battlefield where so many lost their lives is an experience we will never forget. My daughter and I take a walk every morning, its so quiet and we love to walk around the pond and take pictures of everything we can. The rooms are quiet, private, clean and beautifully furnished with Civil War era items and there is a story behind every door of the house. Its wonderful to hear the stories and history lessons that are given while being dressed in the clothing of the Civil War era. My son & daughter even got to fire a musket one morning before breakfast, it made their day. It truly makes you feel as if you are living in that time. The food is delicious and homemade fresh, my son cant wait for the french toast, he says its the best hes had. The sights/tours of Gettysburg are only a 5 minute drive from the Battlefield Bed & Breakfast and extremely easy to get to. Once you stay here, you will understand why we come back every year! My reservations are made for this year already and we cant wait to see all of you this July! Thanks to you Florence and your staff for everything you do to make your place so special to all of us! We were married there about a month ago. To start when we first booked the place it took awhile before they sent us a contract. After we made the down payment I would email them every so often with questions. I would never get responses so I assumed the closer it got that they would be more responsive. I was wrong! A month before the wedding I was beginging to worry because I have NEVER spoken to Florence the owner of the barn. I would send emails, even call and would not get anything back. My husband would call and leave messages with the staff and never recieved anything. It took an angry email from my now mother in law before finally Debbie called me. We spoke for awhile and she told me she would send me a floor plan so I could arrange the seating charts accordingly. Well a week before the wedding I had still not recieved one. Again my mother in law had to write Florence who Never reponded but had Debbie call a day later and apologize. The day of the wedding Debbie was very helpful. She made sure everything was taken care of. I did really appreciate this considering the lack of communcation between anyone at the venue and myself. The day of my wedding was the first and only time I met and spoke with Florence. She was not very nice to my guest either. Debbie was again helpful and cleaning up. I think if I could do it all over again I would use another place. The barn is beautiful and the property is amazing, but with the added stress of the poor communication is something I did NOT need while planning a wedding.

When I made reservations for our stay I was asked if there were any special diets. I let them know that 2 of the 3 guests are vegetarian. I was excited to know that we would have a chef preparing special meals. Well, our first breakfast arrived and both plates had meat on them. We sent the plates back, the hostess walked into the kitchen with the plates and walked back out in less than 30 seconds. It was obvious that they just pulled the meat off of the plates. Every meal after that, our meals came without meat, but smaller servings, there was no attempt to make up for amount of food missing (meat). Our room was extremely hot, no fan available the first night. The toilet is very small and low to the floor, not good for 6 ft. guests or those with bad knees. The water in the shower takes a LONG time to get warm. The photos show lovely barn, but they fail to tell you that is for weddings only, which happen often, which ruin the quiet setting and the use of the grounds. All in all, staying at this bed and breakfast was a horrible decision. We left, and drove to the east coast ocean. Every hotel we stayed in starting out and heading back was 100% more comfortable and enjoyable that the Battlefield Bed and Breakfast.

My wife and I stayed here for several days in late January and it was a wonderful experience. Jeron (sorry if I misspelled your name) took the reservations and later checked us into the General Merritt suite which was about the size of the state of Rhode Island. As we were traveling with two energetic dogs he showed us a fenced in area where they could stretch their legs. Its a large property with trails and ponds which is directly adjacent to the southern edge of the park-- youll markers in the next field over. The breakfasts were tip-top and the B&B also provides cookies and ice tea in the evening. Glen, who was on shift the second night, was very helpful and scheduled a local historian for the following morning. Frankly, the morning history talks are a terrific feature of the inn and the folks they bring in are engaging and well-informed. My wife attended one talk about the impact of the battle on the city of Gettysburg; we both were at Mike Chambers wide-ranging discussion of the role of artillery, the state of medical care and the events of the third day. Its a great place to stay!
