This venue has changed hands and names too many times to count in recent years. The newest incarnation (apparently after the Bar Rescue remodel has expired) is completely devoid of anything that makes a place feel comfortable. Right now, it has as much vibe as a gas station bathroom. Im hoping theyre just going through some growing pains as this place has been a successful and "pleasant to be in" venue in the past. However, the potential is here for a really good spot to see live music in Portland. The food never dissapoints and the stage area is large with a new sound system in place. Theyve just gotta pick a vibe and go with it.

It did seem clean by a visual inspection. My nose disagreed. As a Bar Rescue junkie I had to stop in. The "waitress/bartender" stood in her hut. Her job title is in quotes because she neither waited nor tended to us. We were the ONLY people in the bar. She told us, across the room, to come up to the bar when we were ready to place our order, while not offering us menus. Listen, if I wanted to walk up and get my own damn menu and then walk back up every time I want to order something, I might as well wash my own dishes. Hey, Ms. Frumpy behind the bar, little hint: thats your job!! We walked out. The bathroom was horrifying.

Standard bar. Above average sound equipment. Pretty inexpensive shows. Still, the glaring flaw is the complete lack of talent from the sound engineer. Great place to kick back and have a drink and maybe listen to a band you dont care about. If youre going to see a band you like, you may leave disappointed. Free advice for sound guy: its a small room with a low ceiling -- be gentle with the lows and low mids. Ive never heard a show there where I could clearly hear the vocals. Maybe you should start with those and dial in the rest of the band from there.

Went to see what everyone was talking about. True, Its cozy is the front, and a venue in the back, with a big patio and parking lot. (no searching for parking!!) Went in, ordered a drink and grabbed some menus. The menu is sandwiches and some entrees and they usually run a chef special. We have the special, a steak salad. OMG amazing! I asked about the food and was told everything is from scratch, local, and organic. Not bad for upper end bar food. :) We will be back. Oh yea, almost forgot. They have art for sale everywhere, so the decor got a good score.

A smart phone app told us this place had a Happy Hour going on, so we flocked here after a Sunday softball practice. Im glad we did... $3 wells did us quite well! I had the Gyro and some killer potato chips. The bartender was fast & friendly, but the food service was a tad bit slow & they messed up an order. It didnt phase us though! The patio seating in the sun kept our moods up, along with the free cheesy fries that later came out. FYI: Theres a happy hour food menu in the back of the main menu. I didnt realize that when I ordered!

Bartender/cashier is rude. Nachos came with a total of12 chips and unmelted cheese. Was literally talking to the bartender and she turns around and walks away into another room. I didnt tip because of her bad attitude and Im pretty sure she took it out on me by giving me the worst excuse for a plate of nachos. I was a regular here before new owners took over. I dont plan on coming back.

Now called the Raven. The food was okay, but it was not expensive. My beer was flat, but I drank it anyway...they were playing the x files on the big screen, no sound, with music playing instead. Interesting décor. I thought it was going to be a dive bar, but it was quite clean. Pinball, arcade, and a pool table. Cool spot...just be careful of what you order

5 stars primarily because this is one of the main venues that has heavy music most of the time. Food is fine, drinks are fine, its a dive essentially. Sound can be inconsistent, but with the right sound guy Ive heard some pretty good shows there.

Drinks and food are enjoyable here, and a lot of bands I like end up here. Sound is usually acceptable, but I just wish the stage wasnt so close to floor level--if theres even a slight crowd at all, good luck getting a view at the stage.

Food is healthy and Top Shelf! Bar Tender is sexy! Not much more needed to exceed expectations! I recommend ordering Cheddar bacon fries with fresh blue cheese melted on top.... All food is fresh and made by scratch...

Great live music venue. Its circular design means you can get around the crown no matter where theyre packed in. Plus they often have 2 events going at once, one in the stage area and one in the bar.

Had a pre class reunion happy hour there last night and it was a great experience. The food was awesome, music was great and you couldnt ask for better customer service.

The sound quality of this venue is top notch, one of the best in Portland. They have a tiny parking lot though, so expect to park on the street for bigger shows.

Tonic lounge is fun, large and has a place to hang out inside the showroom or outside for quieter chit chat. Its on the 12 bus line and I like this place!

Much better since the remodel but still sucks when a show is going on and the pool table cant be used without paying a cover.
